Well it works!

Where's a good place to get a Toolbox? I'm wanting a black toolbox with standard latches and seems my only real choice is UWS. Any place to check these out in the Tampa area?

I tried there they didn't have anything. Tractor supply doesn't make one that fits with the shortbed.

Kinda sucks I didn't realize the bottom needs to be beveled in to fit around the wheel well.

 

Maybe Northern Tool.

 

I ended up ordering the exact box for my F150 off of Amazon. Best price, but it did show up with a few minor dings in it. Nothing that would warrant me sending it back.

 

Just curious ,you couldn't get a factory switch?

 

the switch came with an aftermarket wiring harness from Low Range Off-Road. I'm not sure a factory switch would have worked with it.

Best way to mount the toolbox? I used to just use self tapping screws but ive heard thats not the best way.

 

Get some J bolts. I used one on each side. They hook into the rail system. Works well for me.

 

Have you tried CL? I always see some for sale.

Also try Home Depot or Lowes. They carry them.

 

I snagged a $250 for $150 today at lowes. Trying to mount it securely.

 

I drilled holes in my bedrails and the box and bolted it down. When I got the truck it was attached with J-bolts but it moved around on me during steep hill climbs. It just depends on how comfortable you are drilling holes in your truck.

 

Where are you going up steep hills?! Around here??

 

Hardrock Off Road park in Ocala. It'a an old limerock quarry. There's also some pretty steep climbs in various other places.

 

Is that very rigorous? I'm only on stock suspension for the forseeable future but I want to go somewhere fun that's local-ish. So far only been to croom and my family farm haha

 

Depends on how much restraint you have. I have very little so Hardrock ends up being an expensive trip for me just about every time, haha. However, with some rock sliders and good judgment, you could probably have a little fun there.

The picture is from a place called Redrock which is a local spot about 10 miles north of Citrus. I popped the driver's side CV axle immediately prior to that pic being taken...due to that lack of restraint thing.

 

Intriguing. Maybe I'll wait till I can get some armor I wanted to jump at Black Friday deals but couldn't justify the amount of sliders just yet. I'm still getting into it and I'm a big pansy on what I'll go through with my truck she's still very new.
