You have beautiful property! I know about your concerns with the wind/weak roots too. I guess that’s one good thing about the liquid amber’s roots, they are everywhere. I have 13+ trees on 1/4 acre, including 9 liquid ambers, a redwood, a huge pine, and some smaller fruit trees. It’s hard enough keeping the walkways clear, keeping up with the gutters is the worst part.

*That said, I do most of the gutter cleaning with a cordless leaf blower, when it’s dry enough.

 

Shoot about to go to market. We have a friend doing it for us.

I really do feel your pain. I have three operators that are the same and two timber fallers. Three weeks left to log. Logs are on the ground and the mill is shutting us down for two months on the 22nd. I feel like my guys already are gone on vacation.

Yeah it’s been a long season and all the guys are tired and ready for the rain.

 

Me too. I cut timber 15 years and every year I was off for four months. I loved it. Now I'm running a processor and lining out cutters and skidders. Kinda like a side rod. It's just trying when they want to go home. I don't stress though. I just have on other Porter!

Yep he does! Get deer to tow a Jeep. Way more earthy than I was thinking.

 

We’re making a big push before the rains. Our client wanted us running 14hr days. Told him we’ll run 10hrs max Mon. - Sat. The operators are all tired and that’s when guys start making bad decisions and people get hurt. Plus production drop dramatically after 10 hrs.

Yeah! Trees suck! This 60' wide/ tall Coast Live Oak (Quercus agrifolia) in my backyard drops shit on my truck all the time! I'd cut it down, if it wasn't so godamn majestic.

Also, my retirement plan is for me and the wife to build an awesome treehouse, live in it, and rent out our home. #thegivingtree

 

Yes sir! I also ran excavator for a few years digging new construction dry utilities. I know the feeling. Good luck though. Those developers sometimes are nerve racking.
