So has anyone dyno'd the truck to verify the but dyno "feels" Because I doubt you can feel the 4 more torque through the power band that is reported on page one.

I am not trying to convince anyone they wasted their money, I am just trying to get conformation on real results, and not he it feels to people who are trying to justify their 700 dollar purchase with how it feels.

I've changed my tune a bit on the SB, as I initially thought it actually did something but I'm hindsight what it actually does is give you slightly less control over the throttle making you 'feel' like the truck is faster or quicker. The tune, on the other hand, actually gives the truck significantly more get up and go. I wouldn't even call the Dyno results a disappointment, top end power doesn't tell the story here. What you want to look at is the fat, meaty part of the middle of the torque curve the tune adds. It's like 30 hp throughout the entire midrange like from 2500 rpms on which is nuts from just a tune. You definitely feel the increase in low end torque daily driving. Edit sorry that was the auto truck tune my fault

Yeah, that was auto. The manual ads ten foot pounds for like 1000 rpm. That is what I am wondering about. Has that changed since October? IT was supposed to hit the dyno again...

There will be a lot more out in January for the auto and manual. There are many differences between the tune and the sprint booster. The sprint booster merely fakes a signal to open the throttle at a faster rate. Also sprint booster adds 0HP 0TQ

Obviously you're gonna need to see another dyno run with better numbers.. so I guess you'll just have to wait until that happens.

Not much else any of us can say, because it's all butt dyno BS without that.

In the mean time I'm enjoying my truck every day.

    Cheers

@OVTune Correct me if I am wrong if I am not understanding correctly. The initial purchase of the dongle and software license gets you the current version of the tune and includes free updates to that tune as your testing and improvements progress through the versions of the tune.

correct, you get the current version (or if you want an older, but 1.03 I think is the best for MT), and all future standard releases free (like 1.03B, or 1.04)

I understand what the sprint booster is, and I realize there are more benefits to having an actual tune.

I see how my stance can be confusing. On one hand you have a sprint booster which performs the same way, every time. On the other hand you have this tune, which from what I have read, degrades over time from some learning parameter. A tune that keeps its parameters in check, and actually benefits fuel, and or power, is obviously better than a black box that fakes a signal.

I will be first in line to purchase a tune when the results are consistent and reliable.

I was not ready to purchase the tune as it was until 1.02C (I'm an AT) and it's positive reviews (and the fact OVtune was buying a Tacoma for development), but I am thankful to the innovators who were willing to shell out their money early on to give OVTune a larger sample size for the early stages of development and essentially fund the purchase of that development truck.

Yes it does degrade. HOWEVER... I have learned in recent week that on 1.02C-A(91) if I refrain from using Cruise Control (except in very limited amounts) and occasionally do "Jack-Rabbit" starts for no good reason, it DOES appear possible to teach the truck (especially the transmission) good habits again... and it again performs like a NORMAL vehicle. And gets better gas mileage to boot. YMMV.. but I'm absolutely certain this is occurring in my case with my truck.

i have the Pedal Commander, used it for many months before this tune was released, which I've been running since alpha and have tested various files as well.

i got the Pedal Commander so i didn't have to sell my truck. i was going to sell it because i found the factory tune nearly undrivable. for 45k i just called it undrivable. a $250 piece saved me although it didn't do exactly what i wanted.

but the PC, as great as it was, in the end was nothing more than a sloppy band aid fix. which was actually good enough. but not actually good going forward.

got the OV alpha, took off the PC, and never needed it again. i have a OV test tune that's so aggressive it makes the PC Sport+ setting weak sauce. that file isn't really usable on a wet road. I'm running OV 1.03 on MT now.

i don't know what you want to hear since you're disregarding the dyno and the butt dyno reports as well. so here's this:

    - i can spin my tires easily in 2nd on a dry road at fairly light throttle. not on stock tho.
    - i can chug up hills in 6th from able 1800rpm that previously required 4th to not lug, or at least dropping rpms into lug territory.
    - i can easily pull hard up to vvt where before it felt like i was nearly lugging... that's the butt dyno part. the torque difference between this and stock is huge and PLAINLY obvious unless you're numb.

some do report this ECU learning and degrading, but not everyone. my tune has been stable, although at times it seems the throttle has actually improved... seems to maybe have learned how i lightly brush it to modulate torque and it gives me more response than before... also a suspicion, but definitely no degradation on this file or any other I've tried. this may be related to being on a newer config version (04B12).

I'm running 1.03 WITH a PC set on sport and attenuation turned all the way down. I really like it. Toe on the pedal equals smooth cruising at whatever speed I need. Buck and gag is significantly reduced in 1st, even better than 1.03 without the PC. What has really been great is that down here in S. FL. it finally cooled down enough that I could drive without AC. Holy moly! Awesome!

This tune is worth every penny so far, and we are essentially beta testers. A fully developed tune will really get this truck sorted.

BTW - My MPG have improved also, though I tend to drive pretty hard and don't care too much about it.
