Anyone have feedback how either of them (Fox/King) hold up to outter corrosion? And road debris in winter?

Ie-The nickel or whatever plating that was on my set of 5160 s looked liked
shit after 1 year. Also IMO corrosion in the join between the hose and fitting lead to earlier than expected failure. Won't be going back to bikstein for rears for this reason - interested in Icon for the rebuild option also.

I've got Kings and like them, but I think I may need to have them revalved. I've tried to run them at "higher" speed on some rough washboard at then end of the Mojave Road at about 35mph and I was getting the crap beat out of me. There were plenty of guys ahead of me that were hitting up to 65-70 on 5100's and others in JK's doing the same. Just something to look into.

Fronts are available in standard and extended.
1.5"+ lift in the rear really needs custom 2.5 smoothies and shock relocation; otherwise you limit travel.
As much as everyone praises Headstrong, I recommend purchasing from the likes of Filthymotorsports, Accutune, or Downsouth Motorsports. They are actual suspension tuners and will customize the valving. Get your money's worth if your spending that kind of coin.

Filthy even has free coil exchange if the one you initially purchase doesn't work out. They have some really good YT videos too.

Working on it, dissent offroad racks, shift sense pro, pedal commander , ARB twin, rigid SS dually's , dual batteries, ARB fridge , 2.5 Fox coil overs wResi , 2.5 Fox rears w resi Total chaos UCA , deaver packs , Nitto trail grappler's 33" .
That is a great setup. If your not going full throttle desert type running it's probably all you need.
I went with 2.5 CO resi and 2.5 resi shocks in rear. Plus TC UCA's and Dakars HD . I like to go a little fast in the sand dirt etc., now and then. Plus the bigger CO's and shocks make for a smoother ride everywhere, but mainly for the overkill. I'd rather have a little to much than not enough.

Replacing my Icon C/O and 5100 rears. Had trouble making a decision between Fox and Kings. Ended up ordering King Resi, extended travel with 700lb coils last night from Wheelers Offroad. Looking forward to receiving them.

Yes for Kings I’ve had them on for about a year and a half now and they have done fairly well imo. Into my second winter and through 2nd summer. They see a lot of sea air so I would have thought between that and the NE salt roads I’d be cooked by now. I’ll try and get some picks up. I’d say 7/10 in terms of what they looked like out of the box when they were received. Also have to mention the amount of poo water they see on wheeling trips probably hasn’t helped.

The King extended travel is a spacer removed in the shock body on coilover. The extended length rear shock uses an extended lower shock mount for rear lifts over 2" inches suck as Dakar and All Pro leaf packs. You'd have to dig thru this to find what I'm talking about.

If you Google fox and rust/corrosion you will get lots of info on this. Another reason I went King.

The videos on Filthy are really good. If I ever get the coin to drop on a high end suspension, I will be calling them as they seem to know what they are talking about and will tailor to my needs.

Accutune can get you set up, they have a tuning trip set up in Johnson valley on new years, or you can just send them in/drop them off for a rebuild/tune. They've worked out shock dyno backed data and formulas to get the ride where you want it, and have tuned plenty of jeeps, buggies, trucks, etc.

From my observations, Filthy is a shock dealer more than a tuner. Their comparisons they've put out are more on basics like diameters, lengths, and cursory material observations more than scientific data. Plus, they sell Kings, so they can't know much :luvya:
