    Are you stock?

1st gear is held too long which means the shift to 2nd isn't smooth. Having a passenger highlighted it the most as their head would go back then dive forward on the change.

This is stock everything, bigger tires seem to lessen the abruptness.

To follow up on the hesitation issue, I had the appt with the dealer yesterday. They explained that the hesitation is a result of the truck starting off in side-injection mode, and switching to direct-injection mode when it realizes more power is requested a split second later (but after the truck has started moving). When ECT Power is switched on, the truck always starts in direct-injection mode. They said Toyota did not do a good job at seamlessly switching between the two modes.

This does not explain why the hesitation sometimes happens to me twice upon hard acceleration. They said other customers have reported this issue as well, and this is the explanation they give.

I wonder if this is something that can be improved with tuning.

Thank you for sharing this. I'll investigate this as I can control the injectors.

this is pretty disappointing to read actually and there should be no reason the transition between injectors are not seamless

Interesting, but I guess it makes sense and indeed on the stock tune you can tell the side vs. direct shift now that I think about it. I don't feel that on the tune though and never hardly feel any hesitations in any scenario. I used to feel those hesitations a lot more and honestly was freaked out after almost being hit a couple of times. Have not had that "oh sh$#" experience in the time I've had the tune however. That alone is probably worth the price of admission for many

If I read this correctly, the dealership is saying Toyotas OEM tune sucks. hah..

At least his dealer acknowledged it - I have a laundry list of REAL problems I took to my dealer only to be dismissed as a squeaky wheel / outlier who needed to get over it and accept the "normal characteristics" of my truck. Most of which I bought parts for and resolved myself after I was getting so tired of wasting time / breath at my dealer. Then you came along and oddly, my truck vibrates 20% of what it did pre-tune....

If this is true, this is HUGE. With this knowledge, OVTune can continue to refine the tune beyond what he has already done.

    Thanks for sharing............................. Frank

    HMMMM!

I'd like to feel what the truck drives like with DI and OTTO enabled all the time. I know it would burn more gas, but hell..

    Send me a file, Mat!

My expected delivery just changed from 12/15 to today :bananadance:

I’ll have it in time for my trip this weekend after all!! So pumped. Is it frowned upon to camp out at the Post Office and chase down the mail truck?

You're gonna have to download a file from your truck, email it to ovtune, then get it back with the tune and install it on your truck. When do you think he would send you back the ovtune file?

I’m 2133, ordered 11/7 I think during the first wave of Black Friday sales. If you read back a page or two either on this thread or the main OVTune thread, a guy posted about USPS Informed Delivery.. sign up for that (it’s free). I didnt get a shipping notification from OV but USPS detected the package coming and I’ve been able to track through that. Good service to have during the holidays etc anyways!

    ^^^^^THIS^^^^

I never got any shipping or tracking info from OVT (order # 2141), but I signed up for USPS informed delivery and it says my package is scheduled for delivery today. FYI, when you sign up it defaults to showing you mail. Packages are on a separate tab. When I looked at it yesterday when I signed up all I saw was my mail, but when I went back in today I saw the packages tab, clicked on it and voila, there it was, scheduled for delivery today.

    Mine just changed too, woot.
Actually my mailman is Ok with the chasing... or at least I will just keep saying that.

Thanks for mentioning the informed delivery in this thread guys, and that it was free, I forgot to in the other thread. It does kind of make getting the mail anti-climatic though...
