Ok here is my dilemma. I have a 2014 Ford FX4 that I still owe 2.5 years on with 0% interest. I have since purchase a 2007 v6 DC Tacoma (paid for) that I drive all the time. I had a 2001 Tacoma for years so have a lot of experience with Tacoma reliability. Purchased the 2014 Ford to pull a camper but now since moving out of the city am looking to sell the camper. Really don't need the Ford and think I may be better off buying a new Tacoma and going down to one truck. I put a lot of miles on a veh per year mostly around 27000 so want to stick with a Tacoma for liability. My 2007 Tacoma has 192,000 and is a base DC. I like it but I also like the heated seats, sun roof back up camera in my 2014 Ford. What say you guys in Tacoma world? Sell both trucks and get a Tacoma that fits me. Looking at a 2017 Tacoma Off Road.

I looked at a 2015 SR5 that only has 19,000 miles that I may trade the 2014 ford for. It has the 4.0 V6 so that may happen

I personally love the look of the second gens the most...that said I got a sunroof installed in mine and with it being a 2012 I have a back up camera with 94k on it. I would keep the second gen, but obviously Im biased and heated seats wont ever be on my radar...

Some people love the way the 3rd gen drives others hate it. No doubt the interior is a lot nicer than the previous gens. Buying a truck and not liking how it drives then expect a tune to completely fix it is a dumb idea IMHO some people may disagree though. Even though it's a Toyota times are different and these trucks haven't been around long enough to prove its reliability like the previous gens.

You're probably not going to find too many people here in the 2nd gen forum saying you should get the 3rd gen. If you don't need creature comforts, that the 3rd gen has that the 2nd gen doesn't have, then go for the 2nd gen. Power wise there's not really a big difference even with the smaller motor. I drove a new 4runner with the more powerful (than the 2nd gen tacoma) 4.0 v6 and wasn't impressed. It has a little more grunt under 40mph, but falls flat completely after. 2nd gen has around 40 less horse too so you should test drive both and see if sacrificing that hp is worth the loss in MPG and gain in bottom end torque.

Looks are subjective, but also like others have said you can always manually add features to the 2nd gen if you want as well. I wanted a 2nd gen initially but couldn't justify paying 32k for a truck with a lot of miles on it and a super dated interior, so I just got the 3rd gen for a few grand more and couldn't be happier.

That TRD Pro does look good. Going to look at it and a 2015 V6 low miles like 17,000 miles

That's the ticket. Either way I would keep the 07 around as a beater/work truck.

Ok here are my two options. 2015 DC V6 4.0 sr5 pkg with 17,000 miles for 28,000.00 or a 2017 DC V6 TRD Off-road with 20,000 miles for 32,000.00. They are giving me 27,000 trade on my ford. I'm leaning more on the 2015 because I want to upgrade suspension with a ome lift. You guys thinking the 2015 is better deal or go with 2017?

Well I was all set to trade my ford in and sell my 2007 Tacoma for the 2015 and after sleeping on it I just couldn't justify it. Oh I can justify getting rid of the 2014 ford but I couldn't see buying the 2015 when I had a perfectly good 2007 parked outside that was paid for. Just going to continue to add mod's on it until I get it like I want. Thanks for all who replied back and gave me some points to consider. Rick
