8020 crossbars and riser. Camping table slides in from right and is held in location. All the vertical pieces hold pelicans in position.

Working on a quick disconnect roof rack for the OEM bars. This is revA cause I made a stupid mistake and missed the double convex shape of the roof.

I guess I should have stated that these are not recent projects, they've been on my truck / in process for a while.

WRT the bed bars, I engraved TRD into them but they are homemade. Crossbars are just 1530 series 8020 and the feet were machined out of 3x3 angle aluminum.

Has anyone mounted an Ipad mini on the dash mount? Not sure if it will be too heavy for offroad use.
My apologize, but I didn't read through 33 pages.

I have mounted my 8" Samsung on mine, you just have to be careful that the mounting arm isn't positioned so that the weight could serve to loosen the threads on the RAM ball. I mount mine on to the left side of the AC controls with the arm sticking out to the right so that the weight serves to tighten it. So far so good, even using the 6 inch arm.

I can post a pic if that didn't make sense.

I apologize for the delay since my assembly, but I have finally gotten all of the RAM accessories for my phone mount in addition to having a solid 2 days on the trails with this setup.

I'm loving this mount. I went to a local motorcycle store and got the X-grip for my iPhone 6S plus and it holds it extraordinarily well. I run LeadNav off my phone now and this is a great place for my phone to sit. I've also been using it on my daily commutes and it's exactly what I was looking for.

For the 05-11 dash I did have to make some slight adjustments to the locking tab where the radio shroud inserts and locks into the dash. As you can see, the backing plate made interference with the support at the bottom. Kind of hard to see being this was taken in my kitchen with bad lighting. If the rounded edges of the backing plate were closer to the screw hold itself, I think this could be alleviated. I'm no engineer but I don't see why there is 1/8" of material from the screw hole to the rounded edges.

    IMG_2494.jpg

I followed the lines of the radio shroud the best I could. It sits back about a 1/16" from the edge. I left a little gap under the radio plate itself, but the cosmetics don't bother me a bit.

The honest truth here is that I make the backing plates from whatever random bar stock I have laying around. That being said, I do believe that the wider the backing plate is the better it is.

ETA: I'm glad you got it mounted and your feedback is appreciated and noted. Perhaps I'll take them down to 5/8" or 1/2"....

No worries. It seems you utilize feedback into your design so I wanted to throw my experience in.

Just for clarification, it's not so much the width of the plate as it is the overall hight/length. I understand that more surface area will serve well for stability, but the ends of the plate are what were causing the impedance. Maybe begin the curve a little sooner and make the screw holes closer to the fulcrum point? Keeping the screw holes where they are distance wise.

Makes sense, I do the full radius concentric to the mounting holes purely from an aesthetic point of view. Given that these can't be seen anyways, maybe I should rethink that lol.

Thanks @Longboard1110 for posting that radio holder. That thing is really handy.

@Lostsheep if you want more little brackets to make, here's a good one that's probably easy. I'd much prefer something nicer than my homemade one.

These mounts look great. I just prefer the grab bar because closer to hand and eyes have no need to look down away from road. Only issue I'd be concerned with is locking the climate control panel in place and it being a lot to undo if a new bulb is needed in the cc panel. But that isn't anything that happens often. I might just put new ones in before mounting the mounting plate. These are the only other ones I'd probably use tho because of the clean install.

I can not. This was just something I whipped up in paint. The mounting hole was big enough to fit a 1/4-20 bolt through, and the two little holes were for the CB bracket itself.

This was just something I was suggesting if you wanted to start producing and selling them as an attachment for these units.
