They are not pre wired from what I can remember. They make kits now that mount to license plate and the view is either in rear view mirror or in your new dash unit.

 

Update: Gonna be pulling a regular (NOT a 5th wheel) tandem-axle trailer weighing about 10K pounds.

 

Gonna go with the same head unit I got in my Taco, and a license plate-mount camera, and just wire to rear lights like all owners of vehicles that predate backup camera do.

 

Back in the 80s and 90s banks was popular because of their cheap bolt on kits. It's 2018 practically and they haven't changed

 

So what should I do if get my hands on a GM truck with the 6.2L in it?

 

Drive it to nearest recycling facility and drop it off

 

Still wouldn’t need a fairing. Update for creature comforts I guess.

I drove an F550 super crew Lariat and a 12 ft utility bed for work for quite awhile. If it’s pulling trailers on an all day, daily basis, then sure. If the fairing makes sense for the load - go for it.

Doesn’t sound like it to me though, so I’m looking at it as an aesthetic.

 

How about about a Cummins 12V and NV4500 5-speed swap instead?

 

I'm partial to Michelin, but do you have a tire recommendation?

I met a guy at Carlisle who took a 1993 Chevy Suburban C2500 2WD with a factory 454, and he did that exact swap!

Have pics of the Burb but right now I'm at work and only have my phone, so I'll show you when I get home!

 

I would love to have a black 1991 K5 with a Cummins and NV4500!

 

That would be a helluva rig

 

Screw new vehicles! I'm gonna find myself a clean square body and build it the way it shoulda been built from the factory!

Needs new tires, air bags for the rear, paint matched grille and front bumper, and paint matched rear bumper

 

He won’t be towing anything heavy enough for bags on a F450

 

So its a fancy garage/driveway ornament?
