I've never explored much up 7030... Do they ever close it in the winter? Any good spots for sledding with the kids when they get more snow?

 

Everything from the 70 rd / 7030 rd junction up gets turned into a snow park. Supposedly it's December 1st, but maybe this year it isn't yet because no snow down low? Definitely good sledding spots, and you can sled in a sno park, as long as you bought the parking permit.

 

I thought it didn't close until the 7060 junction at 47.1134716, -121.4571904. Where the pavement ends on 70. I wish they had better info online.

It looks so much different up there now with all the clearing they did along the road when the fires were burning. They also left huge neatly stacked piles of logs at 47.0933083, -121.4383874.

I need to get the softopper back on and go camping up there somewhere.

I've never understood that god awful brown leather on a black vehicle?

 

The color is not so awesome but the leather itself is way nicer than the leather the use regularly.

 

A lot of Manastash/Naches gets handed over to snowmobiles, and those guys don't like sharing much - kinda understandable since they have such a tiny window to use their toys.

Just got back from greenwater. 7030 rd is open. There's ice down low and snow up high. I think we'll be able to get to the good campsites.

 

Not understandable that they get everything on both sides of both i90 and 410. I don't like getting completely shut out.

 

Hmm depends on how far up 7030. I think It was 7030 I was on Friday after thanksgiving and had to stop about 200 yards from the top. Snow got to deep with snow drifts. With chains might be able to clear a path with daylight.

 

We'll make it farther than that for sure. I turned around at the 4 way down below today because snow wheeling by yourself is sketchy.

 

Did you get that rooftop tent on the 4runner @live_discover ?

 

The road past the 4 way is super slippery. I went down to 12 psi after that and didn't have much issue. Then it gets fairly hard packed the rest of the way.

We haven’t had much snow yet. It was 27 degrees at my house this morning, probably a degree or so above freezing now. Partial sun today.

 

So we're looking at Saturday overnight up the 7030 rd?

I've got room in the mansion for people without sleeping quarters.
