In the tire store right now waiting for my changes. Switching out 18" Limited stock wheels and tires for 16" MB Chaos 6 wheels and 265/75R16 KO2s. They said the wheels will stick out about an inch to inch and a half more due to different offset. Is that bad for off road use? It's my daily driver and off road adventurer... first mod of hopefully many... is it already a mistake with this wheel offset difference?

No, not bad. Mine stick out almost 2 inches. The stock wheels come with a crazy +25 offset that tuck the wheels up under the fenders. Most aftermarket wheels run from a 0 offset to -25 offset and bigger. Most stick with the 0 offset, -6 offset, -12 offset on Tacoma’s. The more - the offset the further out your wheels are pushed.

The wheels you purchased are a +18 offset, so not much different than stock.

Specs say -6 offset for these. They confirmed. Hopefully there are no unintended consequences on or off the road.

Here are the specs for your wheels....

@Discount Tire Direct will always be happy to answer any questions you may have about tires and wheels you buy from them or any Discount Tire store. Discount Tire is one of the coolest companies out there. They only want YOU to be happy.

I hope all of this helps.

My bad. They offer the wheel in two offsets. +18 and -6.

You’re good. My wheels are a -6 offset as well.

Another shot so you can see with a 265/75R16 tire on a -6 offset....

Since you are sticking with the stock 265 width, it will increase your scrub radius by however much it sticks out. Stock scrub is generally 1/4" or less.
If your lifted, a little more scrub isn't bad and somewhat desirable as lifting decreases track width.
Not necessarily bad for off road use as it should slip enough to be a none issue. On road is a different story...
What it will do, is increase the steering arc and possibly give clearance problems.

If you have the stock wheel specs, there are calculators for figuring that stuff out.

Yea, I'll throw out a shameless plug for discount tire. I bought 4 for my wife's escape there and after talking with them for a bit, I was a fan. Probably will buy more from them

See post #5 above. I corrected myself. They offer your wheel in 2 offsets.

Hm OK... by clearance you mean turning radius rather than vertical, I assume. That sux, but I'll try to deal with it till I can lift later.

Yes turning radius, you will have "more tire diameter" added to the radius. I went with the same size tire on a -12 wheel and ended up with a little rubbing on my rear inner fender/factory mudflaps. I took the mudflaps off and it helped some but it still rubbed when you got in the "magic spot" of the turn radius when going over bumps. More reasons for a lift;):D

Yes; 'turning radius' for lack of a better term. It will have a more tire outside the pivot point(a.k.a. SAI).
Lifting may or may not help. The clearance issue is at the rear fender liner and cab mount area. Remember, lift decreases track...look at the shape of the cab mount.
You might be okay though since you're only going up one tire size. It's usually the 285's and up that you a start to see problems.
