I bought all 4 OEM bushings for $5.00 total. I checked out the video, but I'm nervous to do it. I make a mistake, it'll be stuck in my driveway. Only 15 minutes for you to do so, 2 bushings or 4?

Only two bushings for me. One one each side, the old ones (assuming original) had disintegrated. I’m not mechanically inclined and it was not hard at all. I used the video to guide me.

On my 95, there are 4 bushings I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong

That I don’t know. This is my first Tacoma so in no way am I one who knows much about them. I have a 2WD while yours is 4WD. Maybe other members can chime in about design of your vehicle.

I only had two bushings at the bottom of the t-bar, one on each side. I too was worried about screwing something up and being stuck, but is was fairly easy to fix. When finishing up and before putting the console completely back on just make sure the notch from the shifter engages that little plastic thing on the side and shift it through the gears to make sure it properly changes gears.

I had the video in hand and was using that as my guide while doing this so that is why it probably took me more and a few minutes to complete it.

Just fixed it. Took 15 minutes. Only question, there is old grease under the shift plate in between the white piece (white box with 3 screws) that has the plastic piece that moves when you go from park to gear. Should I clean off the old grease and put penetrating oil, white lithium grease, or something else? Also, anything else I should lube? Thanks

I left that grease alone and didn’t add anymore because I didn’t want to gunk things up. No problems so far it’s been a few months since I put the new bushings on.

I cleaned all the grease off. It was filthy. Used a little white lithium grease. New bushings should last for years
