Got it sorted out and found a fair price for both parties.

 

8-10 hours is a lot of work.

Charge 25 an hour minimum for editing is kind of base work.

That said you are a freelance contractor, so you should and could double that. A lot of people just charge day rates expecting a 8-10 hour day. 350 is a good price for that for starters. 450-650 is what a lot of pros charge in the freelance world.

Granted around here people will think that is kind of pricey but it isn't.

Charge 350 to start for a day I think.

Tippet only paid me 200 a day, but was steady work and other benefits(housing) when i contracted with them.

I think we were talking about this on the De-Tour, as it pertained to Monte's salary, since he was expecting a contract but didn't know what they were going to offer. I'd originally heard it on some podcast on NPR - Planet Money maybe. There, it was in relation to equalizing pay for women in the workforce, where men are (historically) more forward about asking for salary increases, leading to uneven pay. The idea was that women (but I think this applies to people in general who "just take for granted that the right thing will be offered to them") should do this mirror technique because they'd be surprised how high they would get before laughing.

At any rate - glad to hear that a mutually agreeable amount was reached. Definitely a place where I think I'd be willing to "go a little low," perhaps with a "my rate in the future will be a bit higher," in order to build a good relationship. (Though, I'm historically probably guilty of just assuming the right thing will be offered! hahahaha)

 

Monte - I forget where you ended up with salary, but whatever it is, keep pushing it higher. I'm probably biased by cost of living in Seattle, but I think $650/day - salaried, so benefits would be on top of that - for the type of work you do would be on the low end.

That's exactly how I looked at it as well. They commended me for being easy to work and they seem to enjoy what I do, so I think it can only improve from here.

 

Late to the party as always. I was going to recommend finding what you think to be a fair price, then maybe offering to knock a small percentage off for the potential of future work with them. They get a deal, you still get paid fair, and they are more "obligated" to return to you for future work.

Hey have a noob question for you guys... I am going to bedliner my wheels, I know sand then etching primer then bedliner spray but do I need a top coat on the bedliner spray? From what I've heard dublicolor etching and like 4 coats of bedliner is the best route. Thanks for the help!

What's the difference between the ebook and ebook bundle?

Ahh gotcha.

I almost picked up a 3rd truck today. Had hit a telephone pole. But ran fine. Was the perfect parts truck. Wanted too much though oh well.

 

I swear you're gonna be the guy with 20 busted up Toyotas in his front lawn but won't sell a single one of them.
