I was going to leave that up to whoever wanted to do it and if there was any interest by a good group of people

Yes, mormon emigrant trail is really cool, light stuff and heavy stuff. Might be a bit of snow up there right now though.

To expand on the previous post:

The Mormon Emigrant Trail is a nicely paved 2-lane highway from sly park reservoir (near Pollock Pines)
all the way to highway 88, near Silver Lake. Calling it a trail can be mis-leading.

A few of the roads connecting to it, are also paved (North-South road and Silver Fork road), but narrower.
Most of the rest are dirt, and/or gravel, and easily driven, slowly, with a soccer-mom SUV.
There are a couple of actual 'Jeep' trails that require 4wd and/or high clearance.

None of these roads are plowed in the winter so it becomes a playground for off-roaders who
want to test their rigs in snow, whatever they drive.

For most of the winter, the forest service closes a gate near the top end, so you can't get thru to highway 88.
There are signs that warn not believe your GPS, for those who are trying to get to Silver Lake or
    Kirkwood during the winter months.

I think rick is just pointing out that MET is not really a trail . can be tons of fun with enough snow. When snow is present you are not allowed to play in the dirt or fireroads. Dont let the sheriff catch ya.

Rick, thanks for posting up sir.

Where are those trails off of Mormon Emigrant? I've been going up there for years and never found that!
