I'm looking to get a bolt on.
I read a while back, but forgot which brand...
I'm wanting the extra wide with kickout, the one that helps stop assholes in parking lots from slamming their door into my truck.
Their door would hit the sliders instead...

Can someone refresh my memory on these ?

Does anyone have any recommendations on the finishes used? A lot of the companies offer powder coating. Has anyone used the spray on bed liner material? Or something else?

I had my old sliders on my jeep line x. It was good and held up. But due to the finish touch up was difficult. I got my CBI ones powder coated and went with them due to it is a satin black and you can pick up the paint basically anywhere to touch them up. From their site............

    Powder Coat Option $150.00:

While rock sliders can be sent out in bare steel for the customer to finish, many prefer the professional and finished look of powder coating. We offer a standard powder coat color of satin black with a smooth finish for our rock sliders and off-road bumpers. The powder coat finish is strong and prepared professionally to provide years of good use. The product is first sand blasted and then coated.

It is important to remember that while powder coating is a strong and durable finish it reacts in much the same way as your vehicle body paint. It will get rock chips in areas that are prone to debris coming off of the tires and it will scratch also. Powder coating can be touched up with a satin black spray paint if necessary.

It was a tough choice, there are plenty of options, but I went with Tyger Auto. It's a tripple bar, textured finnish and they bolt on with no mods. Very sturdy. Great looking too.

I just got the RCI with top plate on the group buy. They are 20 degrees. I like them but if I had my choice 15 degrees would be the perfect angle. I have seen the All Pro Apex up close to compare and those are 10 degrees which I think look to flat. The RCIs are hi and close to the body also. I painted mine, the prep is a pain in the ass. If I had to do it over I would get them powder coated. My local powder coat guy was backed up though. RCI had them to me in 3 weeks. Great customer service.

Spray paint all day long that way you can touch them up after using them. coatings all come off if you actually using the slider for what it was designed for.

While powder coating and bed liner are fairly durable, it's also a PITA to re-finish. Especially if you have weld-on sliders. To do a "proper" job you gotta strip it all off and start from scratch.

However, a coat or two of primer, and some flat black spray paint, while not as durable, is MUCH easier to patch up: A light sanding and rattle can that biatch. Also much cheaper. A couple $5 cans and you're good to go, vs. $150 to powder coat them.

My plan is to rattle can them, then maybe stick some of those sandpaper stickers on top for foot traction.

This. That's what I did. My brother PC'd his and they look EXACTLY the same after some trail runs. Only difference is he coughed up the cash for that and I didn't. Rattle can is the way to go.

Thanks for all of the input guys. I might just take care of the finishing myself! I'm still tempted to try a spray on bed liner for them.

If you don't end up using your sliders a lot (smashing into rocks, trees, etc...), and maybe the occasional glancing blow, you'd probably be fine and the bed liner would last a pretty long time.

However, depending on the texture of the bedliner you end up using, you'd probably just end up scratching your legs a bunch and catching your pant legs on it. I know I'd be leaning my legs up against them all the time.

You aren't that far from Mobtown you could drive and pick any armor up you want and SOS is probably 8 hrs from you. You could use them and make a trip to Gulches or URE after they install the armor for you and put it to the test. :boink:.

I don't have sliders yet but will soon and I think for the DCLBs the kickout is much more useful in tight spaces can help rotate the truck around a tight area better. Also I just posted a video by 4xinnovations that explains the differences in HREW & DOM you should check that out. As those 2 choices also plays a factor in pricing with some brands. I think that for the most part all the brands are really good. I have done tons of research into all the different ones and there are positives and negatives for them all find the ones you like the most and go with them. Remember it's your rig and you have to like what you get not anyone else.
