I used to have 15% on my last 2 cars. Got pulled over at night time and had to remove it on the spot. I've been really tempted to do the rear windows on the Taco 15%, and maybe something lighter on the front.

My tC after a year of having 50% tint metered at 81% on a state trooper's tint meter (friend of mine)

I've got the 35% on my front windows but I'm sure it will meter lower than that. The shop even told me about it at the time. I had factory tint on the back 3 windows but had the shop put 15 or 20% on the rear window. At the time, I didn't have a cap and all it took was one trip with a fussy baby in a rear facing seat having the sun in his eyes to make me tint the back window. I can barely see through it, at night it's impossible.

The company that the GF works for had one of their fleet trucks failed by the dealership for a sticker because the tint was too dark. They told the dealership that they'd bought the truck brand new from that exact same dealership 1 year ago, so if the tint was illegal that it was the dealership's fault for selling and stickering a truck with illegal tint, so they'd better figure out how to remove the factory tint and reapply legal tint at no cost. Lo and behold, the dealership passed it for a sticker.

Many moons ago I had a F-250 and I double tinted the slider ( before the tint laws) .... This is also when they would place a quarter on the edge of your fender and if it hit the tire on the way down " ticket"! 33's were big back then ...:amen:

That only works if you get a really heavy truck. Is it a real dump truck or an F350 or 450?

Or if you've got a 1 ton with a full sander on the back. But once they run out of sand...forget it.

Even a fully loaded 2wd 1 ton, in my opinion, doesn't have enough weight to plow once you get some real snow. The plow just pushes the front around unless you have either adequate weight to keep the front tires planted or drive to the front tires.

Personally I agree, but it's amazing how many municipalities (mine included) think that it's a good idea. One of our town plow trucks is a 2WD 1 ton, and they can't plow my road with that truck because it's too steep for him to maintain traction. So we have to wait until the old 5 ton makes its rounds, which means that we don't usually get a pass until either it's done snowing or there's a foot of snow on the road.

Wow... that's surprising and sort of sad. I grew up in rural upstate NY and all the towns around me had 6x6 dump trucks, some were old military vehicles. The ones that plowed the hilly dirt roads had chains all around and 6wd. They were fairly efficient with snow removal, the 6x6's would do the initial plowing and then, in the next few days, the loaders would make their rounds and push the piles back as needed.

Typically it just sweeps up and down the main road, so it's never pushing more than an inch or three at a time, and on fairly level roads. I think the town probably got a deal on it, is why they bought it in the first place.

When I was a kid the town I grew up in had an old Oshkosh with the old v-plow that they'd send out onto the rural roads when the storms were really big.

Edit: Basically this rig right here, but not the same truck:

That was back when they used to plow the main roads and downtown with the storm, but didn't touch the back roads until it was done snowing. If there was an emergency they'd dispatch a plow to clear a patch that the ambulance/fire trucks could use to get to wherever said emergency was.
