What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I just installed a set on my truck. Just outa curiosity, how much thread do you have showing?

 

I love mine. Bought them off eBay and use them every day to avoid deer. Great range and lights up the whole front. Bit big but not bad.

 

My private school wanted like 100 a semester, but they had private campus security writing parking tickets that weren't associated with the city/state at all, so I never bothered to pay. Especially once they ticketed me while I was parked on a public street.

I left it at 1.75'' which is what the original owner had them set at. Keep in mind I have 700 pound springs on this set up so yours might be different.

 

I have an '04 Tacoma, built not bought. It's mods are: 3" Lift, 32" Nitto Terra Grapplers, 17" OEM 4 Runner Wheels (Powder coated black), 2" Wheel Spacers, Spyder LED Headlights, Spyder Smoked Tailights, 2 Grille Spotlights, Grille Mesh Delete, Color Matched Grille, Rhino Lined Front & Back Bumpers, 2 15" JL Audio Subwoofers, Rockstar amp, Pioneer Tweeter and Door Audio System, Pioneer Touchscreen Head Unit, IPad Display/Audio Player, Removed Mud Flaps, Taclight Mounted to Driver Seat, Canvas Bed Cover, Weather Tech Mats, Tinted Windows (legal?), Confederate Mud Jug Roadie, 200 empty Cope cans welded into the frame and a Machete under the seat. Merica.

 

Sooo. I was just thinking. If i add all that extra weight to my ifs skid (welding on additional 3/16 plate reinforcements ). Do yall think my bolts will have a problem holding them up?

 

Any idea if one of these would fit under the drivers or passengers seat?

I’m pretty sure it’s 21” I’m front and 22” I’m back.

I’m only gathering from people reporting 24” all around with a 3” front and 2” rear lift.

 

I have that same sub. But not under passenger seat is in the back of the driver.

What are you guys running for Front and rear speakers? The new head unit has made me realize I neeed new ones

 

You are fixing the ones on the frame right? I would beef those. I know I will since they hold the back of my IFS skid and my tranny skid. What do your front bolts hook to with your bumper? The ones in the front crossmember should be fine.

 

Are you just welding on a sheet or are you making a skeleton/ribbing for the backside. Just welding a sheet of 3/16 over the existing one would be pointless and add a lot of weight. You'll get more strength and avoid weight by welding angle iron or sheet gussets in high impact or large flat areas.

Also @Truck Yeah! I have that sub, had it forever and it will not fit under the seats or really behind them either, had to pull out a jump seat and set it on the bench thing.
