Do you already have all the tools? i.e. the oil catch pan and something to dump old oil in. That was the big source of stress (and mess) on my first change

I do not. Going to source those from a local store after the holidays.

Whatever you do, get an open topped drain pan like this.

    89011620_ftl_11845mi_pri_larg.jpg

I could change my oil without a drop being spilled when I used my dads.

Then I got married and my wife had one like this...

    63dfff38-15a6-47c1-9d9e-6076eb3b9af0_1.2388a3e2e74889f010e1e02fbaed4609.jpg
It is a disaster! I spill oil every time I use it because it sprays over the edge. Or the drain bolt clogs the hole and all 5+ quarts end up on the driveway...

These three things took my oil changing game to a whole new level. Definitely recommend picking them up, or at least the same style drain pan. That made my life a lot easier.

@EatSleepTacos have any solutions for not spilling oil when removing an oil filter thats located in the bottom of your engine? I know I could google, but...

I have tried the plastic bag trick, really doesn't work that well. Damn 4 cyls.

I do not, sorry. All the cars I've changed the oil on has the oil filter up top. It's damn nice.

Yeah, the one you linked is perfect. It has the lip to catch splashing, but not the pan. I don't know if it is the angle of the pan or what, but the one my wife has is terrible! You know what happened during my last oil change. Only one more shit show on both vehicles and then they will have fumoto's and the tubing will go right into a jug like you linked.

They finally started opening Advanced Autoparts Stores around here. previously we only had Vato Zone, Napa, and O'reily's.
