You can cut on Twinkies, tequila, and protein shakes as long as you're at a caloric deficit.

This is what I do... Hit my protein numbers and then fill in the gaps with whatever the hell I want and I got very lean last summer. I am thinking about stepping on stage this spring though so I "allegedly" should clean up the diet a bit when it comes down to crunch time.

Standing in line last night to check out they had special 'jumbo' christmas candy lining the aisle. There was a log of a candy cane that was 60 calories per serving and it had 60 servings. Jen wanted it, obv . She's at 1300cal/day. I told her if she wanted it she could eat it for 2 days and no other food and she really contemplated it before deciding against it

Two experts who essentially don't drink saying it doesn't affect gainz, lol. Drink on the regular, and you'll see. Alcohol reduces protein synthesis, dehydrates you, and lowers testosterone levels fellas.

Obvious solution here is to inject testosterone... then you can drink beer and still make gainz. I like it.

I did drink on the regular if you would've read my post....I drank every Saturday for like 7 years straight and had no problem gaining muscle or losing fat :notsure:. I will agree with you about dehydration, but that's a hangover symptom and that is one of the two things I said would negatively effect you if you drank too much. Obviously being hungover isn't good for lifting, but you can also drink in moderation and be just fine.

All of that about protein synthesis and test levels is grossly exaggerated. If you drink 3-4 beers a day, 7 days a week, your test will be reduced by like 6%. I doubt anyone serious about lifting is gonna drink 7 days a week, so I'd venture to say 3-4 beers on Saturday isn't going to effect you at all. To get a big reduction in test (~20%), you've got to drink like 10+ beers, but your test levels level back out after a day. For protein synthesis, it's only been shown to decrease in chronic alcoholics.

Basically, as long as you don't drink every day and you don't drink a whole keg when you do drink, you're going to be just fine.

The Stone Cold Steve Austin approach. I like it!

I’ve not seen ang scientific research to validate that moderate drinking impacts muscle mass gain.

I also have read no research on moderate drinking and testosterone levels.

Binge drinking and heavy drinking is going to have an impact from the standpoint of overall caloric intake, those calories taking away from foods that have necessary micro and macronutrients to support mass gain, plus it hurting your liver and hydration which will impact mass and gym performance.

I drink about 6-10 drinks a week. 1 per night weekdays and 2 on weekends.

I personally have noticed no difference in mass gains when drinking vs not. I do however notice a level in my overall happiness :D

Plus lets say I gain 1 less pound of mass per year because of my drinking.

opinion on the jolly rancher pop tarts?

I think its heresy. Absolutely disgusting. A poptard is a sweet sugary pastry. A jolly rancher just doesen't have the same desert flavor like a cinnamon or strawberry iced poptart.

That sounds gross. The only ones I like are Smores and chocolate fudge. I can eat the berry flavored ones, but I don't like them too much.

On an average day, don’t think I would ever come up short at night. Especially by 800 cal lol

But I plugged an average day into the MFP and it’s right where I kind of expected. Given an hour of skiing and an hour and a half of weight lifting a day, at 6’ 195 and 24, it says I should have 3850 cal a day. Plugging in a normal day, Being generous with snacks during the day (an extra cup of yogurt, an extra couple packet or two of oatmeal, 2 or 3 rice cakes) im right there at 3850 after a normal dinner. So as long as I stick to what I had been doing (plus that extra protein shake and extra portion at dinner)...I should be in just enough calorie surplus to bulk.
Sodium req is like doubled...so I don’t know if I can do anything about that. Almost nothing I eat it processed, I cook all of it.

It’s saying my daily goal of protein is only 194, everything I read seems to suggest about 1.5g of protein per pound of body weight, which has me at 290 g. Current break down shows 280. So good there (half a scoop of protein more could bump that up). Sugar and fat is down below recommend levels so I’m cool with that.

No pop tarts in the diet tho sadly
