I think when C4 was testing it on their bumper it was very specific on where they had to be located

I cant comment as no first hand experience. But I would bet the angle/orientation is the most critical. They still might ok just place higher up(behind light).

^^^ I'd buy steel bumper if it worked with BSM. Really like the feature in crowded parking lots and on freeway. :anonymous:

Hoping it happens someday. High clearance.

Some metal valve stem covers can react with and seize on aluminum TPMS stems causing them to break. They do make some metal covers with plastic innards though that should be safe.

I understand Ford has their BSM built into the tail lights. A bad idea. I can just imagine the cost of replacing a cracked tail from some snot nosed kid, improper trailer backing, or "Mabel" clipping your tail in the parking lot.

You may be right as far as the ability to "see through" the tails. The geometry is likely designed for the low mounting position from the factory. I have no real clue how it would change the sight lines for the BSM. It may not mater at all. :notsure:

The actual stock BSM range seems to start at about 1/2 a car length back, give or take a couple feet.

I know my cross traffic alert, which is part of the same system, will go off while in reverse if a car or person is a block or more away. If a higher placement increased the range, the damned thing may warn on some kid playing in his front yard.

I am sure someone with more time, and patience, than I have could experiment with a friend playing the cross traffic and blind spot placed car.

IF this could be done, even with a different BSM module, I would be interested. I am sure there are several others that would be as well.

Ford's BSM's are in fact built into the tails. But the module is removalable from the housing itself. Source- have one I took apart.

If I have to undo all that work I'll just die! :)

Seriously, thanks for the tip. I had no idea that was a concern.

I think the C4 fabrication overland series rear bumper is the only aftermarket that supports BSM. Possible also the Warn Ascent, there seems to be mixed opinions on that one. Warn says no but saw a guy post he had one and the BSM worked. Anyone else know of one? I am looking.
