Wheel well dressing and engine bay dressing?

What do you guys use for these areas? Bought a 2012 and whomever detailed it used some really good stuff. It's not real shiny but has held up well to some rain and a wash. The tire dressing they used is really good also. Did not sling off and held up well to a pressure wash.

I use 303 inside and out after properly cleaning and drying everything.

Gotta be careful with tire dressing. Some of the mouse milk out there can prematurely age/crack the tires and shorten the lifespan.

 

Thanks guys, when I say dressing I just mean the solution to put on said areas. Not sure what the latest and greatest is as I have not had a new vehicle to keep all nice and tidy in a looooong time. My old 93 yota I just always maintained with mequiars detailer between washes and it stayed fabulous and just used hot shine on the tires. Never sprayed the wells or engine area.

I have pics of new one all clean but I do not use a hosting site.

LOL, no I never have, but I figure after 25 yrs of a 93 taco, this 12 I got looked so good with them done I might keep them dressed some before the new wears off. I keep my trucks, this is only the second one I have ever had.

 

Oh yeah, that truck will last you a very long time.

Sometimes places make their own concoction they've learned through the years.

It might be worth it to ask them what they used if you like it that much.

I asked them after I bought it who does there detailing, he gave me his name and I called and never got a call back. So I will never know what the dude uses. I can tell you this, the tires bead really well and the stuff doesn't sling off like that meguiars hot shine I use. Engine bay area looked absolutely brand new and all areas were dressed. It looks to be a little thicker than anything I have ever used. I went to o'reillys today looking around and theres just to much to choose from to know whats junk and is not.

So this is used for all over? Reviewers state they used it on there paint as well.

It’s safe on paint and plastic and doesn’t leave a residue. I wouldn’t use it all over your paint, that would be excessive IMO, but for places you want to clean that you don’t want to use soap and water it’s great.

 

Yes, it’s basically a quick detailer. I had good luck with it.

 

Meguiars makes an aerosol (Ultimate Black Plastic Restorer) that is nice for wheel wells. It's almost like spraying a clear coat. Super durable.

I don't like it on any other trim due to the gloss, but it's really convenient for wheel wells due to the different surfaces and varied textures, etc. This could even be what the previous owner used on yours.

Watch out for overspray. This stuff is kind of a bear if you get it on paint.

I Agree with above posters-- 303 Protectant is a nice "over the counter" dressing. Probably the best out there as far as what you can get locally. It's also nice on tires. You can use it on everything except paint.

My favorite is

$22 Duragloss 253 Tire and Mat Dressing - 19 oz. Single Pack

Duragloss 253 Tire and Rubber Dressing. Great stuff and can also be used on engine trim, mud flaps, bed rails, floor mats, tires, any black trim.

I've used Lucas Tire and Trim Shine, and I love it because it's easy to apply, available at Wally-World, and it can go on just about any surface.

As far as the engine bay goes, I've had really good luck with Meguiar's Ultimate Black:

After applying it 3 months ago, it's still holding up really well, and the dust you see is the only dust that's accumulated in those 3 months (in other words, it doesn't leave an oily residue, or attract dirt).



Anyway, check out this whole thread, because there are a lot of good products mentioned for both wheels and plastic/trim.
