I've got the same sub. It JUST fits. As for sound, hey it's JL. Enough said.

Did you fit in in back of an access cab by any chance? If so, howd you do it?

Yes, fits between the seats (just). On top of that little cup holder/console thing, securely bolted for now. It's in a sealed 1" MDF box. Did you say 5 channel under the seat? I'd suggest before mounting it, make sure the seat slides back 'n forth. Mine didn't so it broke my heart but I took it back. Now running a 3 channel under the drivers & a two channel under the passenger seat. Just sayin' what worked for me.

Seats go up & down. Access to all belts. What are your concerns?

Just curious cause my subs fit in my 2001 ext cab... but i can barely squeeze a small human back there now, but i don’t have much use for the backseat since I’m only 17.

Thats what I was thinking of doing, just mounting it on that center console thing. By any chance can you send me a link of the box you bought?

OK, I've got a '13, a 2nd Gen. Mine fits. It's not store bought. I don't even know if you can buy a box made from 1" MDF let alone one that fits a 2nd. Gen. I don't know about 1st or 3rd Gen. Trucks. What I can tell you is you won't find too many subs that will outperform that little JL. Very happy with this sub.

The sub comes in a box with a very accurate template. What I did was experiment with placement before any MDF was even cut. I was surprised at how many options were really available once I had that template in hand. JL recommends a 1 cubic foot box if you're running a sealed design. That's pretty darn small so as to not overwhelm the entire back area. Mine fires downward & do buy the optional grill too. Cheap insurance against kids, dogs, guns, & fishing rods. Hope my "pretzel logic" helped. Please let me know how it worked out for you.
