So I have been researching and reading everything I can on lifts, my head hurts and I think I have come to a decision on what I want to do.

Some background and foresight. 17' TRD Or 4x4, currently running 255/75/17 MTs on 8.5 -6 wheels. Stock suspension, no rub. Love the look and poke not so much the road noise.

My wants...bigger...duh. well would like to go up to 255/80/17 At's. Future plans for a cap, roof racks ( love those prinsus), and possibly some sliders.

    What I'm thinking....ok. 6112's set 6/5, 5100's in the rear with Wheeler's add a leaf 2".

This seems to be a cost effective (I'm a cheap ass) but a plenty capable setup....minor offroading, camping.

So that's it...fire away...let me know what you think...unless it's get Icons or Kings.... remember the cheap ass part.

I'm not sure, I think so. Seems like with a 2" lift I could clear a 1" taller tire, and it seems to be the 6112 ride ok..

Not too sure about 3rd gen stuff but a lift can make a truck much more enjoyable to drive and look at every day, that’s for sure.

    Buy once, cry once.

Do a full leaf pack in the rear. Not an Add-A-Leaf.

Toyota's rear leaf springs on Tacomas are NOTORIOUS for being shit. They.... will.... go flat. Especially with a topper and camping gear back there all the time.

If you're truly a cheap ass as you say you'll heed my advice. Otherwise you'll spend more money in the long run with the ass end of your truck is dragging.

Ok...I like it. Someone to tell me I'm wrong. So would you suggest Dakars?

I've got Dakars myself. No regrets. However, these days they have two offerings. A Heavy Duty and a Medium Duty set of springs. Ultimately it comes down to how much weight you plan to have on them daily.

In past (when I got mine) they only had a heavy duty set. With an empty bed they are really stiff. Having put a topper on my truck made a big difference. Rear end can be a little bouncy on dirt roads at speed though.

Have also heard good things about Deaver springs but I've got no experience with them. Old Man Emu Dakars are readily available. [Correction] Think you would see a 2" lift with them.

Are you doing coil springs too? Or just shocks?

No offense to Marie at HS, there are better deals out there on price. Found the 6112 for $587 no tax,no shipping. I will look into the Dakar pack today.
