I just spent a few hours reading up, given your suggestions.

    My understanding after reading:
Britain and Japan showed interest in annexing Hawaii. A bunch of rich guys with persuasion within Hawaii, like Lorrin A. Thurston, Sanford B. Dole and Peter Cushman Jones, were afraid of what this would mean for their lot and holdings in Hawaii; their alternative solution was annexation by USA. King Kalākaua was aware of this group but was quite pacifist and allowed this situation to escalate. By some persuasion "1,000 armed LOCAL men", who were led by this group, executed a coup d'état. "There was no bloodshed as the royal armed force did not resist." King Kalākaua was apparently held at gunpoint to sign a new constitution, abolishing the monarchy in favor of a republic. The Republic of Hawaii was born.
An annex petition signed by 20,000 native Hawaiians, representing over half of that demographic, was submitted.
U.S. President Cleveland, who opposed expansion, opposed annexation and stopped it.
"In May 1894 the U.S. Senate unanimously passed a resolution opposing restoration of the Queen, opposing intrusion into the affairs of the Dole government, and opposing American action that could lead immediately to annexation. President Cleveland thereupon dropped the issue, leaving the Republic of Hawaii to effectively fend for itself."
Hawaii's new government convened a constitutional convention, "limited to Hawaiians, and taxpayers of American or European origins", excluding Asians.
    Sanford Dole was appointed President.
"The new Republic Constitution allowed only men that were natural born citizens of the Hawaiian Kingdom, or naturalized Citizens of the Kingdom to vote in the new Republic", meaning "Polynesians had a two-thirds majority voting block and were the highest represented".
"Royalists had boycotted the republic and refused to take the oath of allegiance to run for office", NOT HOLDING A SINGLE SEAT AFTER THE ELECTIONS.
"Upon the inauguration of William McKinley as the 25th President of the United States on March 4, 1897, the Republic of Hawaii resumed negotiations for annexation, which continued into the summer of 1898. By this time, President McKinley and Republican leaders saw the islands as having gained a new strategic relevance in the central Pacific Ocean in the wake of the just concluded Spanish–American War.
On June 16 of that year, after a unanimous vote of the Republic of Hawaii Legislature, a new treaty of annexation offer was signed".
The treaty passed through the US Congress and House of Representative with the necessary two-thirds vote and "President McKinley signed the bill accepting the Republic of Hawaii's treaty offer on July 7, 1898".
"The transfer of sovereignty over the Hawaiian islands took place on August 12, 1898"

Idk how Lance Larsen thought any treaty between Kingdom of Hawaii was still in action; wouldn’t those treaties have been defunct the second there was a Republic of Hawaii?

And why in hell didn’t the king’s guards fire shots/do their job? All this talk of Hawaiians being warriors, shit doesn’t make sense.

    Anybody need ?

This shit bout to get real

I'm not Hawaiian, I'm not from here, I don't claim to be a master of history, nor have I spent much time in the books. But I'll give you a secret of the islands... No grumble, be humble... Unless you come up on a troll, then let that MF have it LOL.... I do believe that I can speak on behalf of all locals in here... When speaking on Hawaiian history, it is a very sensitive subject and one should choose their words wisely as to not offend \nnn/

Be respectful of anywhere you go and you shouldn’t have many problems. Like I said, there are assholes everywhere. This sounds like a good opportunity for you to register your truck in Hawaii.

Thanks, I get that. I don’t have any ill intentions, not trying to offend anyone anywhere. Just trying to understand and filter bias.

Your unit can give you a non residency form and it’ll cost you less than $40 to get plates here.

And a cop pulls you over and finds your truck has been here longer then 30 days with out switching registrations there’s another add on to your ticket.

If you have a permit, you can run them for however long you want as long as your home of record continues to renew your plates. Been here over a 5 years as a non-resident and continually renew my WV plates and my permit without issue. Also been pulled over for things unrelated to the lack of my front plate and they just ask to glance at my permit.

Quick shout out to @hacklerjason for doing my CMC this past weekend and thanks for the advice... 33s cleared with no problem and I even left my aftermarket mudflaps on. Went to recon for an update on items today right after mounting/alignment and absolutely no hassle.

Didn’t know he had a permit. But if things kept happening to my truck you better believe after the first time I would have a rainbow plate. I don’t see the big deal of keeping your home state plate anyway.

My fees are waived so I’m in no rush. Also don’t gotta pay state taxes :D

When I get the 4Runner I’ll run Hawaii plates on it for ease of titling and it comes with a pre-fucked bumper here.
