Well finished my mystery mod. Can’t remember who, but one of you members guessed what I was up to. Here in Cali we don’t have the luxury of cold air intakes due to our strict CARB laws. So we are limited to filters such as my K&N. Problem (more of an inconvenience) is knowing when it’s time to clean them and if your truck is lifted, it’s a pain to reach in, unclip and hope you don’t damage the mesh in the process of looking to see if you need to clean or not. My solution was to cut out a window and cover it with clear polycarbonate plastic. But I took it one step further and added LED lights to illuminate the interior and the in flow side (dirty side) of the filter. The air box cap was a mere $10 at a wrecking yard as I wanted to make sure I had a cheap expense in case things didn’t work out as planned. An additional $15 in poly, stainless fasteners and lights. I am very happy with the results. No performance issues and throwing no codes. I also took the time to make my light bar cover and added some amber lens to give it my version of the Raptor look.

I’m buying a set of the Nitto Ridge Grapplers 265/70/17 for a crew cab with no lift or anything and Worx rims. What’s the worst case scenario I could run into here with them rubbing or not fitting and what would I need to fix it. I’ve currently got 265/65/17’s on the truck now.

Is everyone using a scanguage to get mpg or just doing the math? Funny I bought mine over a decade ago to keep an eye on mpg and it’s how I learned that it’s not about rpms but more about how hard the motor is working. Made me stop riding around in too high of gear in my 2002. Very surprised when I found out most taco owners use the same thing and that it is virtually unchanged during all these years. Talk about a good buy!

Installed some led's in the shell. Used velcro to run the wires, it sticks to the carpet easy enough. It's like night and day compared to the little led light the shell came with. Next step, put in a switch.
