I’ve wanted a Savannah for a very long time, but I haven’t ever had a chance to spend time with one so I haven’t tried very hard. How did you get to know your cat and his breed?

I Googled it. The genetics is pretty interesting. It's apparently how close the offspring is to the original serval/cat generation, F1. An F2, if I read that right, would have parents that were the first generation offspring. There are currently F5 and later generations out now, so that's a pretty recent hybrid cat he's got.

Sorry for the late reply guys, Tarkin’s freakin’ awesome. By far the best and most entertaining pet I’ve ever had (I also have a Serval kitten I’m waiting on coming here in the next few weeks). Tarkin’s an F2, so that means his grandfather was a full blooded Serval. High generation Savannahs tend to be pricey due to the fact that they have a lot of the “look” of a Serval while still being really manageable as a housecat, and honestly that’s 100% true. Everyone that says Savannahs are a ton of work hasn’t had one. All the things Tarkin does are your typical teenage/kitten behaviors...he’s just 20lbs worth doing it. He’s super smart too, we’re training him to use the toilet, and so far so good!
He’s super loving, he has his spazz out moments where he wants to run and play...but again just like any other young cat..he just looks super bad ass doing it haha. He’s also on instagram as @tarkin.grand.moff if you want to see more of his shenanigans.

And my little Serval pup, Jäkku. Once paperwork clears on the Canada side the breeder will be flying him down to me. (full grown 50lb Serval from the same breeder for scale)

 

My dream was always to have a cat the size of a small dog.... Holy crap. That's so cool

This. ^^^ I won't fault someone for buying a high-dollar cat if they can afford it and that's what they want, but all of my cats have been other peoples discards and they have all been great pets. That's including the one that's pestering me to play with him right now.
