So I changed my fluids in my rear diff, front diff, and transfer case last weekend. The rear diff fluid was gray and look like it had a handful of glitter in it. The other day it started making a noise in the rear end and I think I broke a ring tooth. Have any of you guys ever set up your own gears I might try and do it myself this time around.

sounds like your axle seals have gone bad. replace those while your in there. I switched to thicker oil and helped quite it down. if you have re-geared it could be just the break in flakes of metal. if there was no large chunks you might be fine. I would pull the 3rd and inspect it and replace the inner seals, if it looks good. put it back together.

Not enough to have a build thread.
They won't be able to see the old code p0420. As far as driving afterward, 100 miles should be sufficient. Mainly, make sure you have between 1/4 and 3/4 tank for this drive and try to keep her between 35 - 55 for a good portion if the drive, steady light throttle. And a cold start will probably be necessary. Let it idle for a minute or two after the cold start.

Not sure if this shifted or if it's always been like this, I checked the nut and it's still tight. Should I try to center it or leave as is?

I barely got 300 miles out of this tank of gas

This summer I was getting 350+\tank.

Although letting my truck idle with the defroster on is easier than scraping ice off my windshield :anonymous:

Jack it up until the wheel is off the ground and see if it moves back...

    Might be loose.

I've seen a few "calculators" out there to determine the actual mileage differences when going up in tire-size, but what do you guys use?
