Call around to about 8 dealers within 100 miles or so. Closest lot had exactly what I wanted, wasn't picky about color at the time. Now I wish I had waited for a QS :pout: Such a cool color!

Ordered mine - DCLB, TRDOR, Premium and tech without JBL in Quicksand. Got prices from a few dealers and managed to negotiate a little at the time. Went with the ones that gave me highest trade value on my Tundra

decided on a Pro when they were announced, and put down a deposit right about then, 2 summers ago in August.

ended getting the first MT Pro delivered in Texas, a white one about 5 months later, last December.

Compared some online prices for trucks on the lot. Told the sales Reps I negotiated on phone only no time to visit (was still fishing season). Some declined so they were out of the running. Decided on a truck and sealed the deal with a visit to test drive and got some freebies thrown in (free annual detailing, inspection and car washes every visit for the life of the truck).

I bought my 2018 4Runner before it hit the lot and was in transit, but was exactly what I wanted if I had the chance to order. What does that win me? lol

I ordered one from my local dealer. When I went back a week or so later to confirm it was ordered - sales guy wouldn't give me the time of day. I knew there was one on the lot 100 miles away which happened to be exactly the same as what I ordered. Same color, options, no test drives, and only 3 miles on the ODO. Needless to say I took a little road trip and drove home my new truck!

Get a clue friends -- Toyota wants to sell you what they decide you need, not what you want. Based on the impatience of the average customer they are doing just that. Their whole distribution system is based on getting YOU in a vehicle as quick as they can. Look at the way their dealers trade cars and trucks between each other. Years ago some competing dealers actually did not like each other and they would not trade vehicles. These days, I think Toyota corp. forces their dealers to do inter-dealer trades, just to get the customer buying sooner. Ordering something totally "odd" is probably the only way to get yours built. Mine was a 4x4 Blue SR5 AC AT with ONLY Tow pkg (no other options). Mine had to be built and they make it difficult for PIA'a like me --took almost 2 months to get it.

Waited until late October '17 and bought my '17 Taco from the Toyota lot. Discounts were about the best I'd seen on Toyotas. Wife also bought a new RAV4...perfect vehicle for her.

Awesome version! I originally wanted the Inferno TRD OR DCLB, but ended up (happily, I may add) with Inferno TRD OR AC. Do you have any photos of yours that you can share?

I went to the dealership one day and they started to show me what they had. After seeing automatic after automatic I asked about a manual and they showed me the one manual truck they had so I took it.

Ordered, they didn't have any Barcelona Reds in manual or any TRD ORs in manual. Luckily only had to wait 2 months

I had to order mine. TRD OR DCSB 6MT with the sunroof and tech package. Down here is St Pete/Tampa area there was no such thing. Especially the 6MT. My truck was name "The Unicorn" by the staff when it was delivered. To this day my sales guy has not seen a 4x4 6MT.

I put my deposit down when it was on the big delivery then a few days later they called me when they were unloading it and signed the papers that night. The salesguy actually delivered it so I never set foot on the dealership. One of the easiest car purchases ever for me.

Had to special order mine. DCLB OR is/was a unicorn in SoCal, and I wanted it in black. Worth the wait to get exactly what I wanted.

There was only 1 black TRD DC OR 4x4 in my state September 2015 and dealer wanted MSRP for it so ordered mine for 500 over invoice and got it early October.

Put in an order at Folsom Toyota for a MGM DCSB OR Manual... waited 3 months or so and wasn't getting any sort of helpful update. Went online and checked around and found the truck I wanted in QS which was even better, down in Merced which was about the same distance away. The inventory didn't show up on Toyota's main website, had to go check individual dealer websites to get good info.

5100's all around, OME 887 with 1/4" spacer, icon 3 leaf aal. 255/75/17 BFG KM's on 4runner pro's. Rigid led pods. Debadged and tinted.
Bought mine off the lot. It was exactly what I wanted, except for it had the all season mats that I replaced with weathertechs. It had 1 mile on the odometer when I left on my test drive.
