Looking to run a BD bar under my grill. Will the OnX6 high power 20” fit in there without anything inhibiting the light? Also how does it compare to the 20” S8. Looks like the X6 has a ton more lumens (23k vs 8k) but that’s often not the whole story.

See below for my review of the @Baja Designs squadron sport fog lights! I'm super happy with how the lights perform and look.

It should fit just fine, currently running the ONX6 30". Unless you have 2018+ or a TRD Pro grill, you won't have to trim anything.

Thanks for the response. I was actually talking about the slot between the bumper and grill, not in the grill itself.

The larger OnX6 will not fit in the OEM bumper opening on the 3rd Gen Tacoma. You can make it work but it will most likely require significant trimming.

Performance-wise the OnX6 Hi-Power will outshine the S8 light bar. Here is a quick breakdown between the two lights in 10" form:

    OnX6 Hi-Power, 10"

    S8 10" Driving/combo

    $329.00

Bailey, looking to add to my Squadron Sport combos in my Tacoma fog location. Was not sure I wanted to lose light from hiding a bar behind my grill or cutting below the grill. Was thinking of added Squadron Pro spot in the A-pillar location. Do you think I'll have a lot of glare off the hood? Thanks. Jamie

    Jamie,

Thanks for posting up! The Squadron Sport, Pair, Driving/Combo will give you a great blend of nearfield, midfield, and distance. With those in the fogs I'd recommend the Spot pattern for the A-Pillar. The Spot pattern will give you maximum performance with minimal hood glare. If you went with the Driving/Combo on the hood you'd have a lot more glare due to our Wide Cornering optics.

Here are quick photos showing the pattern difference between our Squadron Pro Spot and Squadron Pro Driving/Combo

Everyone keep an eye out for the latest issue Tread Magazine! This beautiful Tacoma is featured and includes a variety of Baja Designs (BD) lights. Corey has a really clean build.

Ok, so I bit the bullet and ordered the Squadron R's in Amber wide cornering to be put into the foglight spot on the factory bumper and then eventually into a Pelfreybilt bumper. Now I'm just wondering if I went overboard by getting the pro's instead of the sports?? I do live in Washington State where it's raining 90% of the time and my stock fogs just weren't cutting it. Anybody wanna pitch in and give me some tips?

We are processing them in batches and sent out a nice chunk of the rebates in the mail yesterday. We typically try to send them out in bulk every week.

If you want maximum performance in poor conditions and don't plan on running the lights with oncoming traffic the Pros will be great! Neither the Pro nor Sport are street-legal or DOT approved. The Sports are a little bit more street friendly and would be up to driver discretion when used with other traffic. It all comes down to how you are using the lights. Let me know if you have any questions.

Was about to ask the same question. Funny thing is, the rebate will most likely go towards another pair of BD lights...haha.

    Eddie,
I too live in the PNW. I changed out my stock fogs for the sport wide cornering and am VERY happy with them. My new wide cornering and low beams are almost brighter than my high beams. Very good near field light. I have them adjusted so i can use them most of the time. I have the clean lenses. The amber would be great fog. I posted some pictures of the light pattern in my garage somewhere on this thread.

Going to be ordering amber wide driving squadron replacements for my foglights. Also planning on replacing my ebay valence bar with with an S8 in amber.

Would more wide driving light be good, or would the combo pattern be better to augment the WD squadrons?
