So no on the factory seat heaters? They have fancy timers and thermostats to keep from burning your ass off, or other things.

I didn't look for them.. Surprised they aren't in there with all the damn packages I had to get, but fine that they aren't... And no interest in adding any!

Back to serious for a moment..

Just a reminder since most of us have heavily ($$$) modified vehicles. Sharing this since I incorrectly told people that I was covered (when i wasn't). And to see if others with Allstate have been misinformed, and to help others ask the right questions before it's too late.

On multiple occasions (first in the end of 2015), I asked my insurance agent about aftermarket accessories. Went a little something like this each time:

Me: Do I need additional coverage or policy for aftermarket items?
Them: The only additional coverage you can purchase is for a stereo, anything else is covered and depreciated as long as you keep your receipts.
Me: Even if I put up to say $10-15k of aftermarket bolted on the truck?
    Them: Correct

Now (thankfully I didnt have as much as my hypothetical values) they are telling me "the fine print says there is only $1k coverage for aftermarket items for value added (not depreciated), nothing we can do for you" At this point its about the dishonest stuff they are doing vs the money (i won't see any even if it goes completely my way)

So.. Have you been told the same by your agent?

If you do inquire, I'd suggest recording the call if you need it at a later date. Colorado is a one party consent state a you can record your calls without telling the other party. My agent so far has admitted that the person who i spoke to told him her standard response.. which is misleading/incorrect.

As far as insurance, i posted this on the expedition Colorado Facebook site and got a ton of suggestions for getting a "stated policy". Clearly most have been misinformed as well and will hopefully check their policy and fix it before they end up in a bad situation.

    Three common insurance policies are:
Actual cash value (typical): they low-ball you and tell you your vehicle is worth pennies on the dollar.

Stated policy: for example is useful when you inherit an expensive car and can't afford the insurance on what it's valued at. You can get a stated policy that you'll agree to insure that $500k car at $75k.. if it gets totalled, you'll get the stated value ($75k) or the actual cash value, whichever is lower.

Agreed value policy is where you can make up the number before the policy starts and if it's a total loss, you get that dollar amount, no questions asked.

Like i expected.. that scenic trip to home Depot will be expensive.. cost me about $6k in lost property/money. Learn from my mistake... Get your insurance correct and don't buy cheap shit.

I won't post my agents name, still waiting to hear back on Monday about what they want to do. But if you've been told the same by Allstate, it'd be cool if you could post or pm me so i can let him know it's not an isolated issue. I already have been told by one other that they were told what i was.

*I am not an insurance agent or a lawyer. But i did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

    What people say means nothing.
It's what is in writing that matters.

There is an insurance commisioner if you feel that they're screwing you illegally.

I have no personal experience but I've been told that dealing with the commisioner can be an unpleasant enough experience that the threat of it can sometimes loosen a few more dollars.
