This is a fine example of the decimal point being in the wrong place

Don't say that too loud or that dealership will start charging $15K.

It takes one schmuck to actually pay it, and they make a cool $14750 straight profit.

But seriously, that's the type of unethical bullshit that makes people lose trust in mechanics... especially dealership mechanics.

Glad I caught this post. I got an email from the dealership back at the end of November that my 30 month maintenance was due. I was going to contact them to make sure if I didn't bring it in for it it would not mess with my lifetime oil change. I just had the oil changed in late Sept. thing is my truck is a 2015, with only 20k on it.

    what dealership was this?
maybe we should start a new section listing
dealerships or repair shops that went out of their way to screw us.
nothing like a little free advertisement.

I work for a Lexus dealership and its around 300-500 for a 30k service. We do not do transmission services because the fluid is considered life time and it isn't just a drain and fill. Do not recommend adding outside products to the transmission and cooling system. That 1500 quote is just BG product flushes. Not every dealership price is the same for service. Its what they feel is needed to keep your vehicle running at tip top shape. I would look at your maintenance guide for what is needed at 30k.

This is what my dealership replaces at 30k
    -inspection
    -engine oil
    -air filter
    -cabin filter
    -wiper inserts
-transfer case fluid drain and fill
-front and rear diff fluid drain and fill
    -brake fluid exchange
-tire rotation and air pressure check
-2 part fuel injector service with throttle body clean
    - top off all fluids

Doesn't Toyota do complimentary service thru 36,000 miles? I got that with my 2017 TRD Sport and every bit of service so far has been free as part of their ToyoCare program. (it was included). It also has a lifetime powertrain warranty. I didn't read all 8 pages, but man - that is a HUGE rip-off. Just for kicks - ask them for a price breakdown by item and post it!

I didn't do a full flush, just drained the oil pan (3qts)... also there isn't a tranny fluid dipstick in the 2nd gen lol. A full flush should be done by the dealer or a professional, but we're talking about a 30k service which doesn't call for a full flush as far as I know

Drain and fill DOES NOT equal full flush.

$1,500 is retarded even if you lived on the moon. Just change your oil and check the other fluids. I wouldn’t even top them off unless they are reading low. If they put a drop of windshield solvent in your truck, they will charge you for a “fill-up”
I’d go back to that dealer and tell them to go :jerkoff: them selves and give them one of these :brianr: on the way out.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Remember to rotate the air in your tires at 30k

I remember a comedian years ago say that he had a flat tire and was on the side of the road changing it. A cop stopped and asked him if he had a flat tire. He said no, I rotate my tires exactly at 5k mikes no matter where I am.

Still not simple drain and fill on 3rd Gen is where you are posting in and was the original point you made.
