I have seen you commenting about this and resisted cause well I am an ok cook but not on par with some. Have you checked your spices, extracts and such for age they do loose potency especially when stored near the stove like everyone does the heat kind of weakens them . Especially on rarely used stuff.. Just a thought .

Both my sons will be here for Christmas, and looks like it will just be the 3 of us. One or all of us really needs to step up and find a woman LOL. Just need to find a keeper but hard to look right now.

Ham and turkeyed out here too although going to make a ham bone and bean soup next week with my left over ham shank in the freezer. I am thinking of firing up the smoker on Christmas and doing baby back ribs, a chicken and slicing up some thin steak stacked with green peppers and onion marinaded hanging over direct coals. Chop it up and add some cheese and melt it. Pork, chicken and beef BBQ for Christmas, start a new tradition. Think that will work. Christmas eve oyster stew and fondue have been doing that for more than 30 years if I've been Stateside. Longer actually that is what I grew up with.

These guys are much on oysters, but that all sounds good to me (except I'm not much on green peppers). I was thinking maybe a standing rib roast, but we've done meatloaf and mashed potatoes before, so I'm game for about anything.

Ya, the ham and turkey gets to be a bit much this time of year. Ham last night at work. Next week we have a Turkey dinner at work.
I like the idea of baby back ribs. I was even thinking of cod with a crab meat and cracker stuffing.
