Can we just make it more casual and stop trying to have “venders” support it? Aka under the table casual deal, and “oh, a bunch of people happened to show up while we were doing our thing”

There are too many people to just "show up". Thats the issue. We are too big, even it its just TW members.

just off 93, near congress az, there is alamo road..a long dirt road that leads out to Alamo lake. And also date creek water fall. There is date creek wash to camp out on, and you can drive in the wash all the way to the falls. It is 2 wheel drive friendly all the way to the anderson mine too the north, or alamo lake to the west. As far as I know it's just desert...1000 people could be out there at one time......

MT stuff, RTT stuff, the usual.
Salt river tubing is leased I believe, maybe see if we can use their parking lots for the meet, since it’s off season.

So I'll expand on what Stefen has already said. This event is being changed. There will still be something on January 20th but as right now we are not sure what or where it will be.

I felt it was nessassary to contact Tonto NF to verify that with the size of our group we were still considered a "recreational" and make sure that we weren't going to get shut down out there on the day.

Fact of the matter is we are too damn big and will have to apply for a commercial permit. As excited as I am to have this much interest it also means that we need to follow the rules to the letter otherwise we risk fines and having the entire event shut down and we will definitely be under a microscope while were out there. We want this event to be as fun as possible for everyone, but it also needs to be done correctly. Following the Tonto NF rules will ensure that we are allowed to come back and do this again in the future and if this event goes well it will make planning future events a breeze since we will already have a good rep with the authorities.

For those of you that want to complain about Tonto and their rules do us all a favor and put yourself in their shoes. 200+ vehicles and 300+ people out on the road is not a typical Saturday for them and will require extra personnel on the clock and out and about. Overwhelming them would only put a bad taste in their mouth for future events. They have been extremely helpful and willing to work with us on everything including the adopt a trail idea and the event, but they need more notice than we are giving them for a group our size.

We are open to any and all suggestions of where to move this, but keep in mind the size of the group and the issues we are already experiencing. I am trying to come up with something that isn't just sitting in a parking lot somewhere and talking. It may not be off-road but it will be fun.

My idea is as follows, I know its probably a little dumb but bear with me.

    Phoenix area scavenger hunt.

You will start with a clue on your first location is. It could be a park or a business or just some place totally random.

At each stop you will have a task to complete. Once you complete the task you will be given your next location clue and so on and so forth until you have checked everything off the list. Locations will be places you want to stop. Shops, hiking trails, etc etc

Then we will all meet up somewhere close to some trails to hang out, talk trucks, drink beer etc etc.

    Feedback?

No its not big enough. I spent many a night out there and game wardens loooooooove to visit. I mean yeah we could probably fit but we will be spread out for miles. To be honest I have no interest in anything that has to do with pavement. Thats just me. Plenty of places around that could hold 200 trucks with 300 camping.

    @tubbsisland @XPOTRON

Working with the NF is the correct and only way this meet will work. 90 days from permit application would put it around April 1st. The weather can be a toss up, but still doable. As far as the planned January 20th date. Throwing an idea out there. Still have an after noon BBQ at Riverview Toyota if they're willing to. As far as trail runs. Start separate threads for small groups to do there own thing in the morning. Spread the trail runs all over. If a trail run starts to get to many vehicles. Stagge groups by 1 or 2 hours.
Then meet up at RV Toy at set time.
Save the poker run and prizes until April.
We don't want the NF pissed off at us and also giving TacomaWorld.com a black eye.

    Agreed!
Def not interested in making the trip out from CA to cruise around on pavement.
    Also Agreed!
Keep the Forest Service happy and keep the areas open year round for all to enjoy!
Can’t around fucking it up for everyone else because TW wants to have all the fun...

I fully support cliff. To make this event a success and fun got everyone, plus have awesome stuff to give away, it's gotta be done right and in accordance to the letter of the law. Trust me guys. This event WILL happen and will only get better with more time to plan and an areas closed exclusively to us. In the meantime, why not rally on the 20th and still do something cool. Bbq, scavenger hunt, wheeling later, whatever. Let's come together as a group and kick off the new year right. Perhaps, with whatever we do on the 20th, we can treat this as a fundraiser and give all the money's to a friend, brother, family in need. Let's hang out, have fun and give back. We are a big group of awesome people, be a great thing to help out someone in need

I still say contact Prescott National Forest. They have always been super super nice to me and do anything I ask. They are opening up 80 miles of new 4x4 trails, I am sure they could use help or donations. They told they want attract to more 4x4 wheeling guys kinda like Moab. I would say this would be a damn good start. All they can do is say no.
