I joined this forum originally in 2011 when I bought a 2011 Tacoma TRD Sport access cab 4x4. Lurked around for a while, but most of the stuff was over my head for mods.

Now my in-laws have been pestering me to buy my truck from me. I did that this week and I am now back as a new member with a 2018 Tacoma TRD Sport DCSB 4x4 with the Technology Package and tonneau cover.

I thought I was going to drive the 2011 forever, but very satisfied since picking up the 2018 on Thursday night.

I think I will occasionally miss the regular bed in the access cab, but the double cab will be more useful on a regular basis.

One thing I was just surprised about this afternoon was no bed rail at the front of the bed. I was planning on mounting bicycles there with the tonneau cover removed. Is this a short bed issue or something that changed on the 3rd generation?

The 3rd gens don't come with the front bed rail anymore but you can buy them from Amazon or the dealership or wherever and it bolts right in.

Thanks for the heads up on the bed rail. It is only $30 to buy online. Doesn't seem worth Toyota deleting for the limited cost although I am sure most never use the front rail...

I'm sure the savings add up considering how many trucks they sell but I was disappointed when I found out mine didn't have one. It's actually the only one I have had a use for. I bought one of the RockyMount fork mounts and the front rail for my bike. Do recommend the setup.
