Every single time someone posts pictures of their whiskey, it makes me want to go run out to the store and buy it and try it!

Nice collection. Have you tried Yamazaki? It used to be about $40 a bottle but the distillery was destroyed in the tsunami that hit Japan. Now it's about a hundred a bottle.

Ha, mines not as elegant as yours, I just use a old sour cream container to make mine, fits my glass just right.

    Decisions, decisions...

My wife went with the Weller's. I decided to give the Highland Park 12 another go.
(Edit - HP 12 wasn't as bad this time around. The brine/iodine smell and taste still overpower anything else that is supposedly there. I get no citrus, no nutiness/marzipan).

What's the best way to drink your whisk(e)y?
The way you like it! Earlier I had a Woodford Reserve neat (after a sip of HP 12), now I'm having WR with Coke & Ice.

Nice! I sure wish I could get Weller around here, but it's very rare in SC. Enjoy.

Not easy to come by here either. The guy I talked to at the store I bought this one from said they have a hard time keeping it (and all other Buffalo Trace products) on the shelf. I went there looking for BT, but Weller was as close as they had. It was a $20 bottle, so I snagged it.

I can get Buffalo Trace, but not Weller...specifically Weller 12. That's what I've been looking for.

It’s crazy how high the demand for Weller has gotten in the past couple years. I love their Antique 107 and used to have no problem getting in the Fall. This year, I lucked into 1 bottle. Friend picked up a Special Reserve for me... But the 12 year has become a unicorn. Secondary market is like $200!

Working on another bottle of woodford, crowd favorite in the house. Probably back to angels envy, macallen, or four roses after this is gone

Recently I've gotten into drinking decent whisky/whiskey. Tried a variety at restaurants, whisky tastings and I bought various sample size bottles. I ended up buying a few bottles of the ones I liked; Basil Hayden, Hibiki Harmony, Glenlivet 18 and (coming for Christmas), Glenmorangie Lasanta. The Lasanta has had some aging in sherry casks and the sample I had was very good.

Initially I didn't notice a big difference between them, but after some time drinking them I'm finding I easily taste a difference. The Hibiki is hands down my favorite. Trouble is it's very popular and is somewhat hard to find. The local stores are only alloted 6 bottles for each order, usually sell out in 2 or 3 days and don't know when they will get more.

I keep checking but it's been awhile since any store around here had any. I had to be up above Roseville today so I searched BevMo stores in the area. I found the BevMo in Auburn had 3 botttles so I called and had them set aside 2 for me. They sell them around $75 a bottle, but at Total Wines it's around $55. That's a crazy price difference! Luckily, BevMo price matches. So now I'm good to go for a few months! I also picked up a few sample size vodka botlles as stocking stuffers for my GF. Selected just on the interesting bottle shape/color.

We're liking the Lasanta and I'm finding myself favoring the single malt scotches over the bourbons. Quinta Ruban's on my list to try next. Could be awhile tho', as we're currently "over-invested" in bourbons and need to finish off a few bottles before buying more.
