Tried it the Rock lights from the part pile, I'll definitely be putting them in, one light was enough to light a room. Then also tried the Toyota emblem lights people put in the doors for when they open, not sure I'll do those but it was cool to see. Also started work on cleaning off the blue paint from the caliper. Comes of pretty easy with a wire brush. Need a smaller one to get into some areas.

 

Well I got rear ended tonight...

I stopped at a red light and the 4Runner behind me didn’t stop. My Rear bumper is pushed in and down. Anyone have any advice on procedure to get this taken care of? I’d like to get a check to just fix it myself.

 

Now that I'll be adding more electronics, think it might be time to clean up the wiring. Hope you're okay. Often it takes a day to realize any strain injuries.
Get a police report.
If the other driver will go for it, just have them cut you a check directly. Done.
If you need to go through insurance - the insurance company usually cuts you a check, or will pay a body shop directly.
KNOW THIS: The insurance company is making you an OFFER. It is negotiable. but you have to come up with documentation to prove your value.
Your insurance company should represent you in dealings with the other insurance company. That is part of what you are paying them for - professional representation. They should be chasing the other company to make you "whole".

 

BTW, I'd get some fluid film or such & treat everything down in the affected area. It's going to be a salty while until you can start fixing it if insurance gets involved.

Hope you're ok. If the bumper curled down, you need to look at the frame behind and around the rear spring perches. Especially true if you have a hitch as they tend to buckle the C channel in that area.

 

That stinks. Hope you and your truck are alright

For that price there are a few TW members on here that make them

X2. That is a very vulnerable part of our trucks.

Quite the last few minutes to the game last night. I have a lot of Steelers friends from college, so I am always extra happy when the Pats beat them and I don't have to listen to them brag and shit.

 

Thanks guys, no one was hurt and it wasnt too bad. I will check out under my truck today and hope my hitch and frame isnt bad. I did have a 5 inch drop hitch in when he hit me, im thinking that might been some leverage to bend the hitch. It looks fine but ill put it on a lift today and check it out

The worst part was that this guy didn't just hit me. He ran after i pulled over! I had to chase him like 3-4 miles with the cops on the phone at the same time. sneaky little bastard.

 

That's fucked up. I hope he got in some serious trouble, for that hit and run.

 

The police officer had told me he would be getting cited for a hit and run. Im not sure how much that is but it cant be cheap...maybe @LivinLoud can chime in on that. And the officer told me I could bring him to court for Civil as well. Im not really sure what that means though

 

Interesting... not sure either. Hopefully someone knows what that's all about so they can chime in, so you can take the best course of action.

Did you have a stock one, or aftermarket? If you had stock, are you going with an aftermarket one if you can get them to cut you the check?! Seems like that's what most peeps try to do if they get hit... get the check from the insurance, and then get an aftermarket bumper, especially if it's a front bumper.

And buy a waterproof circuit breaker (blue sea systems or something similar), ground busbar, plenty of connectors, crimping tools, and heatshrink.
