Which lift for my 285's

I would hate being the one who posts threads that have been answered already but I have been looking and can't find much !

2003 extended cab 4cyl.

I have a set of 285/70/17s I took off of my Cummins and I want to put them on my Toyota. Which lift will ENSURE a guaranteed fit? I don't want to order one and it not work..

Pretty much any 3" lift will get you in the neigborhood. 3" for the front and then 1" to 2.5" lift in the rear (whatever levels/rakes/socals it out as for the look you want).

Your main concern will be figuring out your wheel setup: you'll prob need spacers, or offset wheels, or lower-profile UCAs, or fender trimming, or any combination of those.

 

x2...you'll need wheels that are at least 4.5" backspaced and new UCAs to fix any alignment issues you may have. Check out the Old Man Emu Lifts

 

Well to be honest, not planning on much off-roading.. Do you think a 3" and a good 4.5" backspace rim will workk?

 

Looking to put these 285s on this week... Any more help is greatly appreciated. Like I said, I have had my wheelin' fun and broke too much shit to want to do that to my DD. So I am looking just for something to jack er up a little, without replacing my whole front end (UCA, etc..)

Well 3 inches of lift is recommended for 285s (which would require new UCAs)...however, there are a few guys on here with Bilstein 5100 shocks set at 2.5" and are running 285s but there's alot of trimming involved and new wheels won't be necessary if your comfortable with running wheel spacers

 

Well these tires are 17" and stocks are 16" so I have no problem getting 17" with 5.00" backspacing.. Would that work?

 

Nope, 5.0" is too much. You need 4.0" to 4.5".

Yes. Too high of a backspace will mean the edge of the wheel will be closer to the UCA.

Think about it. 5.0 means the rim seat is 5 inches from the back edge of the wheel. If your backspacing is only 4 inches, the rim seat is 4 inches from the back edge of the wheel, so in effect the wheel is pushed out further.
