I have not seen any 2nd gen DCSB 2.7L that are 5 spd. I'm not sure that config was offered. I've been considering converting mine to a 5 spd. It will happen eventually.

Yeah, everyone of them ive seen has been the 4 speed auto. I think there was someone on here though that said they had a five lug double cab with the 5spd..

That's quite possible. Seems the 5-spd was more readily available on the 5 lug. I'd like to the the swap, but then I start to think if I'm going to swap the transmission and the engine ECU and engine wire harness, I might was well go ahead and swap the motor to the 6 cylinder (or LS swap if I really want to get fancy) at that point.

    A thing or two...
Gearing between the manual and auto are different, so trying to compare gear changes between the two is like comparing apples to oranges. With the manual, 4.56 gears and 33s match stock revs and 4.88 gears and 35s match. 5.29 gears exist. Nitro and Yukon both make rear 5.29 gears. Yukon is the only one that makes front 5.29 gears for the 2nd gen.

I test drove a 2016 access cab, 4cyl auto. It didn't have enough power to pull a greasy string out of a whores ass. I couldn't imagine how shitty it would be with the extra weight of a double cab.

Thanks for coming in here to talk crap. Mine does just fine, even with a lift and bigger tires. It’s not a rocket ship, but I don’t want it to be so I don’t care.

I ain't talking shit, especially about toyota's, I've had many Tacoma's. I just stated the obvious about the 3rd gen Tacoma's. Maybe it's the gearing, or the the new automatic. Either way, they are not as peppy as the 1st and 2nd gens.

I didnt notice much of a loss in power, and i have run e load 265/75/16s. I think if you get a lighter load rating, you wont have any problem at all running that size. Do you have the 5spd or the auto though? I have the 5spd in mine and i think that helps some. It might be a little more noticeable with the auto

I run 32’s at 255/75/17 load range C. Lost some mpg but power is fine. Don’t get a E rated heavy tire unless you’re off-road a lot.

I went with some Toyo Open Country AT II’s P265/75/16 as i rarely leave the pavement. It looks like the higher load rated model but only weighs 41 lbs. I can tell a little bit of a difference coming from the stock 245’s but that’s only on long inclines on the highway.

4 bangers and v6 engines don't produce power, v8 engines will produce it, your looking at the wrong engines if want power
