Anyone know the size bolt that goes into the crossmember that hold on this style of skidplate(RCI)?, looks like I lost one somewhere. EDIT found it M8x1.25 40mm



Also heard of catalytic converter thefts around the north bay. Do trans skids really protect the cats? Found this budget idea elsewhere on here and it looks like an interesting, cheap solution. My buddy has some scrap expanded mesh around, so the cost would be the bolts and such.

 

It’s like any theft, opportunistic but electric saw zall’s don’t give a shit. Sadly they’ll cut right through that as well.

 

Figured as much, maybe a skidplate will be a deterrent, going to order one. A few hundred bucks versus catalytic converter replacement costs will be worth it. Tacoma and 4runners are targeted because they are already easy to slide under, now with my lift and taller tires on the way i feel like my cats are just hanging out waiting to be ganked.

first thing I do when I get a new truck, take it to the muffler shop and have them weld on anti thief bars.
basically rebar welded on both sides of the cat and weld the bolts. most of them are taking with pipe cutters. or just unbolted. they like to be quite and most of them are taking at night in your driveway. anything to slow them down or make it where it will be loud as fuck will most likely work. 4 bolts might help but they can quietly be removed.

Front tires rubbing back edge of fender. Cut off about an inch. No change.

I had a Pro Comp lift kit on the truck that was installed by 4 wheel part at the request of the dealer when they first received the truck on their lot. I bought the truck. This past summer I removed the Pro Comp lift for a Kings extended travel, and a Total Chaos UCA. Then the rubbing began. I posted here for help. Posted this copy of the alignment results. Many said I needed to increase Caster. Well, today I took my truck in as my front left tire isn't holding air. Thought I'd have them do the alignment again, with the goal of increasing Caster to possibly decrease tire rub. The guy there looked at me like I was drunk. Says changing Caster won't do squat to alleviate the problem. Have I got this all wrong? Do I just need to hack up my fenders more? So confused.

Would solve a lot of your guys short bed problems.

 

Sounds like a more lift would help. Id trim as much fender as possible, and maybe add a small spacer lift. Hard to tell with out seeing the issue

 

I've currently got what appears to be a Pro Comp kit on mine (the shocks are at least Pro Comp), and blocks in the rear. Swapping bits out is on my list, but since the lift is currently working for me, and my 285/65/18 KO2s fit (still need to CMC for hard compression on turns at high speeds), it's low on the list. I'd be curious to see what your solution ends up being after it's all done.

 

Hmm you think it’s legal to put some seatbelts on it and have the kids ride there? Or fab a giant smoker onto it and cook your dinner while you wheel. Nothing could ever go wrong.

 

no spacer lift needed with Kings. Do you have wheel spacers on it? I have Kings/TC uppers and 1.25" wheel spacers on 285's with no rub. Trimmed up some inner fender a bit but thats it.

 

Maybe it's a hillbilly camera platform?

 

He probably meant adusting the coilovers for more lift, not adding spacers.

 

You are looking for no rub though the full range of motion, so more lift is irrelevant. What are the specs on your wheels? You might need to look for wheels with more backspace that will still clear your spindle gussets and upper control arms. Think moving the tires inboard.
