Got to ride in it a few months ago. It's amazing and built very well.

Nice man...It kills me everytime he talks about selling it. Im hoping after mine is built up that I never get the bug to let it go.

Me too, but house, family, and kids play a huge role in your toys and what to do with them.

I totally get that...just got the impression that some are simply getting bored with their rides and are seeking something else.

With leaf springs and well valves shocks you can go plenty fast enough to shit your pants and want/need a rollcage.... drive in a truck with leafs and push the limit first to see if your happy with that. Linking a truck costs significantly more... and if you are having someone do it they better know link geometry... too many trucks out there that three wheel and link steer like a mofo.

With that said... linking my roommates truck to race it kinda forced me to get canoes too. Slowing down for stuff because of leaf springs pisses me off soo much lol... granted the passengers have left imprints on the door handles at that point

Cool but as far as handling goes it’s stupid

Yeah I kinda figured that went along with it. But I was unaware that better geometry could fix it and make the truck handle better. I just thought it was something that came along with links and that much travel

Link geometry has a ton to do with it... trophy trucks still do it because there’s a lot of travel everywhere... but yea most is from the geometry

My exact set up...+2 front and linked rear = not a waste at all. IMO linking the rear end is not just about the travel numbers. For me it was about zero axle roll, easy pinion adjustment, easy height adjustments if I am loaded down for a trip, easy spring rate changes etc. The travel is just a bonus for me, I did not want to penetrate the bed because I have a camper shell that I use daily so we designed it around a 12" CO that tucks inside the wheel well and it still yielded 20" of travel. truck 1.jpg

Nothin wrong with a short course link setup either... especially if you just have a mild front end

Who made those links? Shock mount bolt looks above or even to centerline?

@jeffz0rz made them, you are correct it is very close but we made wobble stoppers so the links do not lean. I've noticed a lot of people don't use a heim at the front to get around that ? I've never personally cycled / articulated a set of links with bushing front pivots does it actually limit anything ?

Your truck is 4/5 linked on the assembly line ? You can simply do a long arm upgrade kit right ?

pretty sure thats what Dirt Designs did with my friend Chris' 4Runner. maybe brought them forward a little but for the most part its about the same, just C/O and Bypasses mounded on the links.

The bolt should be belowcenterline but a lot of desert guys use the bushing setup because it’s cheaper and acts as a built in wobble stop... but the bolt centerline thing is more important

smashed this, broke that, covered it up with tape and paint
Thanks for all the input guys

Looks like I'll be leaning towards a short course style link setup and maybe a rough stuff rear end to handle the motor and track width, as well as the fact that my rear end in the truck is turning to a pile of metal shavings as we speak

Not considerably called a short course setup, but just a 3 link with a panhard bar would be a little more affordable and easier to do. Keeps the stock tank in place and don't have to deal with fuel cell or even touching the gas tank, and its linked with regular links not short course tube style links. We done that to a 15' Tundra and had 22" and it does very well.
