Ok thanks. I've had a few tops before and you can usually swap the plastic on the rear window to fit the newer style tailgates. At least I've done it on an f350 with ARE and Leer and on a Frontier with a Leer (i think it was). I thought the 3rd gen bed was actually taller now, hence why I asked.

You could just paint it black with some rattle can bed liner and it would good I think.

the RTT was a rental from a local outfitter, so cant answer in regards to long term, but it worked great over the weekend and no issues with the Leer.

I thought most Leers had a weight limit of 150ish pounds. What model do you have?

100XR . i believe most of them do, unless you get the reinforced package which raises the limit.

Ive seen hundreds, if not thousands of tacoma toppers with RTTs on this forum and have yet to see anyone with an issue.

I would think the stress over time could have an impact in the fiberglass, but for a weekend warrior like myself, i wouldnt use the tent but a 20-30 times a year.

Bed racks are a popular option for people who want something more reliable and secure, but again, never seen anyone have any issues with the Topper / RTT combo.

    only time can tell!

I just bought a new 2017 DCSB TRD and am interested in getting the Leer 100XR with Windoors just like yours. It looks great in the photos, but wanted to check your opinion of how the Windoor shape tracks the shape of the indent in the shell. I've seen some pictures where is doesn't have quite the same shape around the corners and just wanted to check. Also, any leaks around the Windoors?
    Thanks in advance.

I saw a used 2016 with the shell on it from a dealership's post on craiglist, so I called them and asked if they would sell it separately, they said no, so I said keep my number and call me if someone wants to buy the truck and doesn't want the cap. About a week or so later they called and a guy bought it and didn't want it! So I ended up driving a few hours on sat to pick it up:)

edit: still cost me about half or more than a new one, but totally worth it to me:)

What made you decide to move from the softopper to a hard top?
