Working all hours but the production prototype is almost there. Here’s a couple of photos to drool over for now. More to come this week.

Should have the tent frame together this evening, just in time to disassemble for powdercoat tomorrow. I don't always work sunday nights, but we are going to stay tonite until the upper assembly is complete. The extrusion came in at the outer limit of its delivery timeline, so it tightened up our timeline a little bit.

Wiley finishing the last hinge component...

Stack of shiney... Hopefully nobody is bored with too many pictures of these things ;) They are off to anodize tomorrow.

And just for another example of the scope of nice parts on this thing, this is one of four gas strut mounts finished in our deep clear ano. Kinda has a titanium finish.

Dont worry about the slight step in the pocket, that will be resolved for the production version.

Should make an led bar mount on the hinge so you could mount a led bar that would be up on the roof.

I have wondered whether this will be a possibility. I like the fact that the bar would be far enough back from the front edge of the roof line to eliminate the hood glare issues seen with a lot of light bars mounted at the top of the windshield.

If people keep coming up with ideas like this, I’m gonna end up with another $5k+ in accessories going on my truck when my GFC is ready. I should probably start a go fund me or something lol so much for keeping my truck mostly stock. That ship has sailed.

With the extrusion that they are going to be using, your going to be able to mount anything anywhere on this thing. You want to mount a Howetzer on the side, simple bracket, and boom your in busissenes.
Now the one thing I would love to see, (and I'm sure it's to late in the process) is a t-slot on top of the bed rails to give more assessory mounting options. Then you could also make some vertical load bars on the side to mount things like rotopax, shovels, high lifts, ect.

@Blackdawg @macdadmorgan You won’t have to worry about a lack of accessories for this thing. We’re calling it the GFC Platform because it’s designed to allow you to bolt all kinds of stuff onto it. So instead of it being something you build around, it’s something you can build off of. We’ll have light mounting options for the front, awning mounts, side lights, a few styles of roof rack, etc.

Is there going to be a GFC awning or are you just making the mounts for us to attach an awning from someone else?

We’re starting with mounts for existing awnings. Once we get our sewing operation dialed we might make an awning as well. It’s not going to be right away though.

If you're going to do sewing, have you considered offering fitted sheets for the mattress? Or will the standard covers be easily removable/washable? Except in winter, we switched from sleeping bags to bottom sheet plus comforter for camping, much nicer. Your sleeping area at 90" is a little long for standard sheets. Not a big deal, just curious ...

The covers for the cushions are easily removable but the fabric is probably not the best for sleeping directly on as it’s an indoor/outdoor fabric. We have talked about doing fitted sheets for each panel so you could sleep directly on them but still pull out the panels for easy midnight bathroom exits.
