Why thank you! Decided to Tig weld all of my armor.

 

Awesome rig man. Has a real Aussie Hilux feel to it.

So I noticed I was having a ridiculously high idle and had no idea why. (1500 RPMS stopped and close to 2500 RPMS wile moving) First thing I checked for was vacuum leaks and sure enough, found this on a vacuum tube going to the IAC (I think).


Replaced it and I'm idling around 900 RPM's again.

It bolts right up no fab work needed. Trail gear rock defense bumper is the name. Comes with pre drilled holes for a winch.

No I didn't get anything. Thats a pretty damn nice bobcat!! I had one walk out a few feet from my bow blind a few days ago but never could get a shot.

 

If you use the same avalon cluster that Shrek used you could probably make it work, in the 99+ 4runners they had something similar but it was horizontal below the fuel gauge, you should (in theory) be able to use the mechanical from the 4runner (I assume it has a mechanical linkage to indicate what position the gear shift is in) and the dash from the avalon and have a factory looking arrangement.

 

Yea he’s the biggest I’ve found up there.

Does flat bed get in the way of your rear suspension when flexing? I’ve heard people have problems with this.

 

Just buy a 5 lug cluster, they had column shifters, so that's where the indicator went. Should fit fine, but I'm not sure if it'd take extra work to activate or not

If you have a 95-97 you'll want one with a mechanical speedometer cable connection

 

Well... installed SPC UCAs, Whiteline LCA bushings, LBJs (ended up installing two piece of shit LBJs from AutoZone because Proforged sent me 2 lefts), new Shocks, new coils, Energy Suspension sway bar bushings, and Moog sway bar disconnects on the front.

Did the AAL and new shocks in the back...

That was a long frustrating weekend, but I think it will be worth it!

 

Actually if you put two long screw drivers on the stub shaft you can pop it out with a good push.

 

what springs are you running?

I just put some Moog original size/weight springs for now. Got them for 25 bucks and made it easier, where I didn't have to disassemble the original coil overs to assemble these.

I will be going with a set of 882 or 883 when I get the new spring packs for the rear.

 

900 rpms when warmed and idling?

Are you an automatic? Do they idle differently than manuals, eg if you're in D? I idle, when warmed up, at 700 rpms in neutral.

 

Trust me I tried. I just gave up and used @Timmah!'s method of popping it out with a pry bar and hammer.

 

Nope, manual 3.4. And yeah warmed up, at least that's what I was at when I did my ghetto fix with electrical tape, haven't tested warmed up with the new vacuum tube. Never thought that was high though. My poor engine does need some love though. Need plugs, wires, and fuel filter soon. Almost hitting 230k with no knowledge on when any of that was last replaced. Definitely hasn't been replaced since I bought it at 150k. Hell I don't even think I cleaned my MAF in 20-30k. Thank god it's a Toyota.

Yeah I think once you do all that maintenance and the ECU relearns... you'll be idling around 700 rpms when warmed up.

 

Maybe I'll get some MPG's back too. The post cat o2 sensors been throwing a code since forever too.
