Well at this point in my life I would have a month, but by the time I plan to go I probably won't lol. It really depends on how much time everything else takes but I generally agree, theres just way too much to see out west to condense into a 2 week trip and Im not gonna rush through anything of course. Im using paths on google earth, I usually make multiple paths and connect them all by dickin around with the coordinates, then theres a site that converts .kml to .gpx. its not hard to do but it took hours so I'm pretty pissed lol

    Ah... right.

You can pull the level plug on the trans pan and drain a little out. Dipstick WOULD be easier though.

Where is the level plug located. I see two separate pugs on the bottom.

Check out Gaia. $10 a year subscription but an invaluable tool for me. I can plan and download routes on my computer and it syncs with my phone. Got USGS topo maps and everything.

Not only can you use it to plan trips, but you can also then use it to track your trips as well.

You can even setup waypoints like camp sites and what not.

Its tempting, but the fear of going broke with nothing to fall back on is still there lol. If I can get out there before I get my first real job Ill be happy. Ive still got time, not even 21 yet lol but @bski22 scared me with his, "you'll wanna settle down by 24" comment

I just did my valve body a couple of months ago, but I don’t remember which is the drain, and which is the fill / level.

There’s a write up on here that says which is which. You’ll get Fluid out of either one though. If you’re leaking coolant into the trans it’ll be overfill obviously.

Its a lot to consider, Ill have to think long and hard about it, Im past the point of acting before I think lol. I don't have anything to lose, you're right, but its still quite a proposal. Its like the full time road trip guys, they're living the life. But I don't know how they do it.

While I always love the idea of this and admired those who can do it, I don't think I would be anywhere near having my shit together the way I do now if I did that. I started my career at 19 and because of the work experience I gained in the past 11 years I am where I am today financially. I can't imagine trying to live a nomad life, I definitely wouldn't have my house, or cars, or my truck built where it is, or probably my wife for that matter.

Though I didn't even have my truck or discover TW till I was 25? Up until then I had my BMW for fun, snowboarded and rode my motorcycles. Wasn't even interested in seeing anymore of the US or camping that much for that matter. Funny how your perspective changes on things.
