    Just saw it.
I didn't either. Although when rey and it'll are fighting for the light saber I was hoping she would just turn it on

Everything you need to know is summed up in this video of why The Last Jedi sucked so fucking bad. It's almost an hour long but exactly to the point of why I (and apparently "most" other people) hate this fucking film so much. A lot of the points I covered in a previous post but Joe does an excellent job of explaining in depth. Well worth a watch to people that grew up watching (and loving) Star Wars.

I was 7 when A New Hope came out and I made my Mom take me to see it I don't know how many times. But I'm sure she was sick of it. The prequels were terrible but they didn't exactly do a disservice to the franchise. I don't consider myself an expert on anything Star Wars. There are much more knowledgable people out there for that. All I know is I loved the films growing up because no one had seen anything like this before. This ONE film completely fucks up the entire 40 years worth of glory that Star Wars was in 2.5 hours.

Well damn. Thought I could come here and talk about how badass this movie was but ain’t nothing but negative reviews. What gives? Was the movie perfect? No. Was it the best Star Wars movie? No. Was it too long? Yes. Did it have awesome cinematic effects? Hell yeah. Awesome light saber battles? Yup. What more do you want...

I’ve had issues with every Star Wars film. None of them are perfect or the best films ever made. I agree with most of the stuff y’all are saying (Leia should’ve died, they let too many escape pods gets blasted before doing something about it, the timeline, Snoke died too quick, Rey’s backstory, etc etc etc) but the movie was still good and entertaining. The Cruiser ripping through Snoke’s ship at light speed was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen on screen. The whole theater had a collective audible gasp of losing their minds momentarily

Did you guys hear Kylo Ren has an 8-Pack?

    What gives?

I think I've been pretty vocal about what gives with this franchise and what this movie did to that 40 year old franchise. If you just want to go see a movie and be entertained then The Last Jedi will do that. But if you grew up with Star Wars as a kid (as I did) then, as a total series, this movie completely destroys that franchise. The plot holes are so huge that you could drive Snokes ship through them. So many missed opportunities for answers that we have patiently waited for. This one film destroys everything that was good about the characters in Star Wars. Now I don't give a shit about Rey or Kilo. Neither hold any interest to me. Add to that, they just gave the go ahead for three more Star Wars movies "after" Episode IX... Fuckit... I'm out. This one film, director, and writers destroyed everything I ever loved about Star Wars. Disney has turned this series into nothing but an unlimited cash grab because they understand if they put the name "Star Wars" on anything people will come running. They're just printing their own money and fucking up an entire series because of it.

At least Peter Jackson did an admirable job with converting the books into film and that was no easy feat. I grew up reading The Lord of the Rings and was pleased with how the films came out. Were they perfect? Absolutely not. But he didn't single handedly destroy my love for a story. I realize that what I'm speaking about is coming from two very different directions but they still converge into the same place for me.

I’m only 29 so I don’t have this childhood memory of seeing Star Wars when it first came out but my uncles and granddads did and they’ve told me about it a million times over. “We just sat there after it ended and waited for the next showing to start again” and they loved the new one. Hell my one uncle even went as far as to say “it was the best since the original”. I don’t agree with him, but I’m just putting it in to perspective that this movie isn’t as bad as you are making it sound. Most people love it and these new movies aren’t even geared towards the fanboys of old. There is a reason the Force Awakens was a complete rip off of A New Hope. It was a reboot without having to reboot and still creating a new storyline in the same universe. It doesn’t affect episode 4-6. They exists on their own, even without 1-3 which people hate on anyway.

:notsure: I’ve liked them all, except Rogue One. That movie sucked. I fell asleep twice.

    I even like Jar Jar

I agree with a lot of things that you mention. Movies are subjective so everyone interprets them how they like. And no one is wrong for doing that. If you, your uncles, or granddad love the movie then that's what it's all about my friend. The reason we go to see movies in the first place is to escape reality for a couple of hours and be entertained.

The issue "I" personally have (and apparently a lot of others) is growing up with these characters who you become so invested in, treated in such an unfitting end, is just extremely disappointing. You are exactly correct about The Force Awakens being a complete rip off of A New Hope. But with that said, it kind of had to be in my opinion. You're bringing back a franchise that has so much canon (if you will) you need it to coexist with the original films to bring in younger generations that never got to see the original movies at the theaters. So I don't fault JJ Abrams taking the film in the direction he did. He kind of had too. Rian Johnson had a perfect foundation to build off of but it appears that he just said "fuck that shit...". In the end, I'm just not excited to see Episode IX. Don't get me wrong... I'm still going to see it but JJ Abrams has his work cut out for him now. If bringing back Star Wars from a long forgotten sleep wasn't hard enough... now he has to try and fix all the shit that Rian Johnson broke.

The only character development I have issue with is Leia. Even if Carrie Fisher was still alive her character isn’t needed anymore in the story. Leia should’ve died in the bridge (or slightly outside of it in space somewhere). The force float back to the ship was stupid but just in general she had no meaningful part in the movie. “Use my code people believe it in” and no one responds to the SOS. As Kylo said “let the old die”...

I’m not mad about Luke. He didn’t “die” he transcended into the force, just like Yoda. I think as much as this movie was it’s own creative tale it was still slightly ripped off from V. The whole island and Luke teaching Rey while other things were happening away and Rey showing up finally to help (a la Luke with Yoda etc etc etc). He didn’t need to go out like Obi Wan. I’m sure his force ghost will be around in future movies.

I’m also on team Kylo lied to Rey about her parents. No way she is a nobody with strong of force :notsure:

Completely agree with you on Leia. That would have been a fitting end to her character. But they fucked that scene up so bad that I just sat there rolling my eyes. And I agree with you on not being mad about Luke dying (or transcending). I'm mad about the way they handled that. There were so many directions they could have taken that and, in my opinion, they took it down one of the worst paths they could have. So a character that I've loved for so many years gets a storyline that he would never agree too in the first films and an ending that he doesn't deserve. I can see why Mark Hamill said "fuck no" to the script at first.

As far as Kylo lying to Rey... I "personally" don't think he is. There has been too much talk about Rey's lineage and whose daughter she might be. There's no one left.

*EDIT* And it makes sense that Rey is just a random person whose parents are just random people that sold her if you are to believe the kid with the broom at the end of the movie.

I didn’t even notice the kid at the end. He was sweeping with the broom then the ship went light speed and he held the broom like a light saber. I never saw him drop it or use the force to pick it back up :notsure:

Was so excited for this movie, watched it last night me and my buddy walked out looked at each other and both said wtf was that. Then proceeded to question everything we just saw only to come to the conclusion that we thought it was terrible.

I am just so disappointed, it honestly felt like they were just trying to kill the whole series right there. Seemed kinda dumbed down as well there was just a lot of why did they do this or that. My favorite part of the movie was honestly Chewie trying to eat the Porg, or Poe at the beginning.

I like to think it's because Rian Johnson is a money hungry punk with no respect to the legacy and canon of Star Wars

Also can we discuss the human esque tits on the creature and how disgusting it was for Luke to milk the stupid thing and drink it
