This. I got married at 27 and even then my wife and I were together for almost 8 years by the time we tied the knot. Don't rush that shit.

You can certainly check fluid level, top off, and do drain and fills. So not sure why thats the logical next step.

The overflow/fluid level check is the bolt with the allen key hex head more toward the front of your truck. The drain is the normal 6 point bolt toward the back...

Automatic trans is to be filled via vacuum pump.

Yup. This. I’ve done a drain and fill twice. Then, I did the IPT valve body. I can just never remember which bolt is which.

No it is not. It’s filled through the fill hole until it runs out while the truck is running. Then, you get the trans up to the proper temp and remove the level plug, once again while the truck is idling, until it stops running out.

There is a specific procedure that does not require a vacuum pump.

I've been doing the drain and refill as preventative maintenance.

I'm gonna do this DIY fluid flush sometime in the future Scott.

    Temp check procedure is here.

No need for a vacuum pump.

I've been doing this mechanic shit for a year and half now (NOT since I was 13 years old.) But I try to gather sensible information when I do something. The two procedures that I linked appear to be sensible.

Exactly. Not even sure it needs to be running when filling, just when checking the level it needs to be idling and to operating temp which it will tell you on dash by tripping two connectors.

This is true. Actually, that’s bad information on my part. Poorly worded.

I measure what I take out and put that amount back in. Then start the truck and top it off while its running until it spills out. Just to get it close.

THEN, warm it up and set the level.

Thats my exact procedure. Im sure no harm in either. I've probably also filled it while running like you said because beers.

OEM. IPT told me you can’t beat it. Says he’s the first one to upgrade anything, but OEM is best for our transmissions. Who would know better than guys who build performance transmissions?
