Easy there killer. Dumbass things on dirtbikes like bombing around in the woods at speeds way in excess of what current day Bill would probably consider safe. Much in the same way that I push my truck and comfort to have fun in the woods.

In a hurry to spend leisure time...

    Makes sense...

    Not.

Rather take my time. It's like sex. Rather NOT be done.....go slow and enjoy it.

But then again, did my "dumbass things" on dirt bikes at a pace that would send chills up your spine...

There's a time for slow trails and a time for fast trails.

BTW @Jibbs you wash your truck yet? Dents or scratches?
I know you had that spot across both doors that you suspected to be noticeable

I didn't consider it "safe" back then. There was a purpose to going fast though....

When have any of us won a trophy for bouncing a truck off a tree or a rock?

Clearly we're all competing against ourselves and each other every time we go out. All of us attempt to one-up every obstacle or hole.

Build an Ultra 4 or a bouncer, or any REAL "go faster" vehicle....get your jollies doing race stuff.... Against competition....where you can gauge if you really are "fast".

There's a huge difference between going fast and going on the verge of out of control.

Also nah, went home last weekend. I'll probably run it through Mikes before christmas. I won't have time to get out and wash it myself before then. I can already tell you there's gonna be a scuff under that one spot cause I wiped some of the mud off and checked. It will look about like my scuff on the other side.

To come full circle- I don't really care. I can afford to fix it if I want to and it's got a story.

Not that it's entirely comparable to rolling around the woods at 10mph in my truck, but I probably appreciate this a bit more than you'd assume.

My college graduation gift was a weekend of California Superbike School, where I got to go ride an S1000RR around Laguna Seca being taught by some of the best instructors to ever live, based on a Keith Code curriculum. It was a hilarious good time. I've gone plenty fast, so speed isn't gonna spook me any time soon. I used to do multiple track days a year until lower back problems caught up with me and I retired the supersports for a more comfortable bike (and got tired of paying for tires).

I'd *love* to have a woods racer. A SxS is still on the immediate radar.

edit re Laguna: The speed isn't scary, you get used to that. What you don't quite get used to is the goddamn corkscrew. It's 2 blind corners before hand and if you take the 'fast' line through it, that fucker is STEEP. The kind of thing where you have to just trust that physics is gonna work and you aren't gonna just roll down it sideways into the gravel lol

If my health woud allow, I'd be back on a dirt bike NOW. There are senior classes that I could be competitive to this day. I'd go home in a body bag though.

    Speed is addictive.

One of the best pieces of advice I got while I was racing came from multi-time WORLD champion MX legend, Roger DeCoster while he was Honda's team manager.

"Sometimes you have to slow down to go fast"

Exceeding one's talent level, or the limitation of the vehicle you're on/i, you lose time...you break equipment.

It's the age old tortoise and hare thing....

There's a very fine line between fast and out of control.
