I traded in my 2014 Tacoma to get the 2016
Then I paid the truck off about 6 months after I retired out of the Marine Corps.

    So
All the money I'd spend on a truck payment I save to buy parts

I never had the intention to replace drivetrain in this truck until I realized how shitty the motor and trans were

And wasn't gonna replace the rear end for a long ass time until this one started shredding itself

A lot of these mods are to get ahead of issues that have already presented but have not failed yet *knock on wood*

Just don’t do the fj hub thing and run semifloat axles in a nice fancy housing... probably the dumbest thing people have done just to keep some speed sensors so the tranny will shift.... u can make a time ring setup work on your driveline... does it take some work and craftiness yea but 100% doable

    You're not wrong
But I enjoy constantly improving things

No project I ever have is ever complete ya know?

Just like Alice further and further down the rabbit hole

    And besides
The more I modify stuff the more I learn and if I were to time travel back to when I first started building this I would have just gone total chaos 3.5 and linked it right off the bat and then bitched about the back roads issues as a result hahaha

America ! I know it alll too well... will you at least buy a damn welder? Even if your not a fabricator.... learn how to squirt metal together.... saves you a bunch of headache down the road... and is applicable outside of vehicles

I wouldn’t be where I’m at without some trial and error.... I would have built a race kit and linked my truck too in the beginning...but... I didn’t have the skills, or knowledge to do it yet

I'm actually looking at welding schools/programs currently.

I wanna learn tig from a reputable school/program

Cause some of the stuff in my head doesn't exist and to get it made by someone else would cost way more than any loan I could get could finance haha

Sand dunes national seashore isn't an OHV area, as far as I can tell it doesn't allow offroading at all.

They change that rule pretty frequently

Currently it's only ATV and side by sides

But silver lakes is still plenty close

Wow man that really sucks...I guess you could go curry and scrap the whole rear end issue?

Exactly! Seriously though as long as I stay away from atv trails I can normally fit.

Incorrect. The recall for the 3rd gen is for leaking only. If it's not leaking they won't fix anything. If it's leaking but has the correct amount of fluid they replace the gasket only. If it's leaking and there isn't enough fluid in it then they will replace the 3rd member.

2nd gen went thru a bad batch of Mexico built 3rd members that were grenading. I went thru 2 of those.

I scared the crap out of myself in an uncaged ford ranger with a LT kit pulling 15" with a coilover and bump stop up front, f150 8.8 axle in back with giant 64 kit. Truck was pretty dialed out of the shop, but I sold it after I stopped working at that shop. Surprised me just how well leaf springs can work to be honest.

But alas, rangers are fucking terrible and every high schooler has one with blown out fabtech upper control arms and fiberglass fenders. So much happier I got my Tacoma with a full cage and new links. Someone should buy it before I take it out to get dirty.

Soooo anyone in orange county have a press or access to a press? The lower uniballs in my coilovers are seized and need to be pressed out.

If you are going to Silver Lake hit me up. I spend a fair amount of time there during the season. You can have fun from a stock truck to full built and everything in between. The only real difference is how fast you can go before you break.
