If you guys don’t want to shell out the cash if not covered under TSB, I did s fix for my 15 Taco when I had it. Got 5/8” weather stripping and lined it up inside the seal against the door frame from cowl up to the corner. Never made a single sound after that.

again. Dont even waste your time with the TSB. Literally 2 bucks in 1/4in Drip line or something similar to stuff in the seals and you are good. Im 99% sure toyota found the bigger thread, saw my fix from YEARS ago and Incorporated that into some new seals and called it good.

I inserted an arrow in your pic to highlight the bead that was added to the updated seals. As far as I can tell, the addition of the bead about halfway down the front and a third of the way back on the top is the only difference between Old and New seals.

Yeah exactly. It attaches with clips and also an adhesive strip. The entire job took less than an hour for all 4 doors.

What a joke.... I complained about this when I first bought my '15.... the dealer (Autonation Toyota Libertyville Illinois) told me they cannot attempt to recreate it because they cannot drive the truck 75 mph..... and proceeded to blame it on my big tires (265/70-17s) and lift, which they documented for future blame shifting..... They noticed the lift and all terrains, but failed to notice a minor detail such as fully seating the dipstick in the dipstick tube after an oil change...... Because the tech looked stoned as all get out, I checked the oil after the dealership visit, you know so they cannot blame my locked up 4.0 on my lift and big tires.... discovered the dipstick tube sticking out 8". I figured this was an oversight, until it happened the very next time I brought it in for my Toyota Care oil change.....

BTW I figured out what the wind/buzzing noise was in 5 minutes and bought weatherstripping and fixed it.

@smithers0990, the number is T-SB-0170-16. Also attached an PDF of it. I printed this off and took it in with me to help "facilitate" the diagnosis of the noise. Basically, here is the issue, I did the legwork to figure out the solution, fix it :boink: LOL.

I think it would have been even more of pain in the ass if I went in there blind. Thanks to all these wonderful people on the forum, it made getting mine fixed a little less of a headache.

Is this the same noise that the 3rd gens are issues with? Happens at highway speeds with a crosswind.

Yes but 3rd gens noise comes from control arm holes. The fix is a couple of .50 cent plugs and two minutes at the dealer.

Did you add a piece under the factory piece? It’s hard to tell.

0170-16 has now been revised to include the 2016,2017 models. Good news for the 3rd gen drivers such as myself.
