    Hey everyone,

Just looking for any tips and what not for those who have gone the 5100 route all around your truck! I just ordered the 5100’s for four corners, going to use factory coils, and put a 1” block in the rear. Anyone have any tips with this kit?
Super stoked to lift it about 1”-1.”5 depending which one allows me to get a 275/70/17 KO2 in there.

I would get new coils if I was you. It'll ride better up front if you do, so you're not preloading them using the factory coils. I have 5100s installed in my truck now all around to clear 265/70/17 up front and they clear, but offroad they come pretty damn close to rubbing. I was out in some sand going semi quick and turning and I still rubbed with the front lifted 1.75".

I’m not looking to do any hard off roading. Just going for looks right and maybe that every once in a while light ride in the snow and what not. I will upgrade to an Icon stage 4 at some point when I want to really get into off roading but for now they seemed to be a better option than going with a spacer lift. As long as I clear the 275/70/17 and maybe get a little rub at full lock I’ll be happy!

Gotcha. I'd still recommend getting new coils so you don't have to preload the 5100s to achieve your lift. I think OME 887 coils will give you 2.25" of lift with 5100s, but don't quote me on that.

I’m pretty new to all this, so sorry if this is a noob question but is it bad to not use coils and if so why? Will I ruin components?

Up front you have to have coils, it's just whether or not you want to use the stock coils or aftermarket ones. From what I understand, the stock coils are not long enough to provide any lift paired with the 5100s. You will need to preload the coils (move the snap ring up a few notches on the shock) to achieve a lift. This will cause the truck to ride rough as the coils are preloaded already.

If you buy new coils, they will be longer so that you do not need to move the snap ring at all to lift the truck, they will remain on the zero notch. Your coils will not be preloaded this way, giving them more flex when you hit bumps and what not.

I'm pretty new to this stuff also, but that's what I've learned so far...anybody feel free to correct me if I've gotten something wrong.

I have 265/75/16’s and used the factory coils in front with 5100’s. No probs for my preloaded springs, even with pulling a trailer, or carrying a load. Technique’s point of rough rides, and a suggestion from Marie at headstrong that some people find that it may nose dive while stopping with factory coils, is a good point, but as Marie also pointed out, it happens most at 2” lift settings and my lower 1.2” setting (3rd click) may not do it. I found that it rides great on and off road with that setting, and I figured I could try it out first without, then add the coils later if I didn’t like it. Money saved.

Definitely go this route, and as for the rear, use a Dakar (or Deaver single leaf as I did) AAL instead of a block. The AAL’s will increase the weight capacity of the rear springs and will help prevent axle wrap if you are towing and bottoming out with heavy loads. The leaf pack rides better than the single, but the single carries more weight so that’s the one I went with, and I love it.

I’m running 5100s on the front, on the 3rd notch up out of 4, with stock coils.
Rear is 5100 with a toytec 1.5” block. It rides ever so slightly stiffer than stock.. but rides damn good imo.

I went this route for 2 reasons:
1: I only wanted to run a 265/75/16 as I enjoy my good mpg’s. And with the right offset, it’s the perfect stance.
2: im not interested in spending 3g on a lift kit when the 5100s get it done and are super reliable.

I absolutely love my stance and it’s exactly what I was looking for...

I daily my truck as well as tow boats and do a ton of camping, fs roads, trails etc.

    Hope this helps bro.

Hell yeah! Both are beautiful rigs. I myself have a DCLB in the Inferno Red color. I just bought some Ray10’s from SCS tonight too in the Jet Black color so I’m stoked to get those as I know it will give the truck a nice stance! I’m only kidding 1” all around so I may go with 265/70/17 depending how it looks once it’s all installed. I do love the big tire look though and was my main reason for pulling the trigger on the 5100’s and block and spending that extra $425.

Jealous that you both have a canopy. I really want one but don’t wanna spend a couple grand, and nobody has used ones in the Inferno Red color:facepalm:

The ARE models cost about $1500 or less, color matched too.

    $13 shipped.. no brainer :)

Yeah I’ve ran the 5100s On stock coils before w 1” rear block on my 2nd gen and I never had a single issue with that truck either.

    Great budget setup.

Yeah I mean it’s all about what you want.. i wasn’t interested in doing cmc or any trimming. But if that’s what you want to do in order to fit some bigger rubbers than thats cool too. Either way, the SCS Ray10 is sexy with a 265 or a 285 :p
