I thought if you had a mil retire and bought your mil time you jumped up on the leave earnings, at least that is what I was told years ago. Learn something new every day.

If there's any value to it, it's very minimal. The less military time you have, the easier it is to buy back. Plus I would lose that pension now and wouldn't get anything (besides a paycheck) until I retire from this gig.

...other than my VA %...again, minimal.

I probably won't get a true "retirement" from this gig. I'll retire on age (62/SSI), plus get back what I paid into TSP and (I think) 1.5% of my "high 3" (or some shit like that) plus my military retirement. I'll do alright. Nothing spectacular.

I'll probably only be able to sit in a corner playing with "dust bunnies" in a puddle of my own drool anyway, why would I need money?

That's how it is for my wife. Her 4 years in the military count towards her leave benefits in her DOD civilian job. So that bump in leave that comes at the 5 and 15 year mark - she hit after 1 and 11.

I just think it's bullshit that Congress calls it double compensation for military retirees and we had (have) to start over at 4 hrs. instead of getting 8. Then to make a person cringe a little more, the bastards had the balls to give me 20 year pin and certificate the same year I went back to work.... another 2 and I should be getting my 30 yr if they stick with their stupidity.

Hi Sue, sorry for the rant...I guess I'm either too simple minded or hard headed...or both.

Agreed, insane! Not giving employees promised vacation kills workforce productivity and alot more workplace injuries. Studies have proven this time and again. Time to start looking in my book.

    I agree...

    Morning.
Got about 3 or 4 inches of white stufff on the ground last night.
Good thing is I don’t have to rush.
I can get to this no rush stuff way to easily.

A 2 day week then a 4 day week. I can handle that.

    :pccoffee: Good morning.

Every time they start talking about socializing health care my butt puckers and I worry about getting absorbed into the Federal System among other things. Gave up trying to explain it to people and just say "Hi I'm from the government and I'm here to help". Only a few more years left, or until I start the drool party, which ever comes first.
